Will hydroponics yield fewer bug problems?

My cab project is still under way and I am having a hard time finding any information regarding pests and hydro. Since my cabinet will be in my apartment bedroom and I have a dog that will be going out like 8 times a day, I know already that it will be a recipe for disaster. Even though the pests feed on the plant it always seems to be soil growers that have the most problems. Can anybody share some experience or links to where it has been discussed if hydroponics will generally lead to fewer pest problems?

Thanks in advance for reading!

Thanks for the fast response :)! Hopefully with hydroponics and proactive preventative pest care I can avoid smoking mite carcass in 6 months.

Hydro is less "bug" problems but has it's REAL challenges in the rez...Algae. It can be a real pain in the ass and result in constant rez changes but it's avoidable for the most part. Just make sure absolutely no light touches that rez and get plenty of h2o2 in there and there wont be algae.
