Hi - I was active on these forums about 5 years ago when I grew in Alabama. Since I moved around a lot and am now moving from Florida to a more favorable state. I stopped because I moved around and I have a good career and family and the punishments in Georgia, Alabama, and Florida were depressingly severe.

Anyways, back then I had two HPS/MH 400 Watt lights and it took me about a year until I could grow stuff that wasn't overtaken by fungus and such. Now I have more money and will be buying a house with a large basement. My ultimate plan is to grow only once a year - but until then I know I need to re learn and get better. I'd like to grow enough for 6 mos and then stop for 3 mos.

I am considering a "grow tent" kit. I have read that some can be more expensive than they should be - but so what. I have money and it seems easier. HTG has some that appeal to me, and I am 90% sure I will spring for a high quality LED lighting system. I think a 4X4 or at most a 5X5 model will work. I am also pretty sure I will use soil at first because thats what I used before. I would maybe consider hydro after I get better.

Anyone have any suggestions? What would you get if money were not a limiter? I wouldn't say money is no object - but put it this way I doubt anything would blow my budget. I am only looking to grow for personal usage (not even my wife smokes or ever has) and I *think* I can get a medical card where I am going as well. I need this - I don't like pot that much but I have moderate mental health issues that this has been the only thing that has worked. Since I quit I have gained 50 pounds and am extremely unhappy despite life being really good.

Thanks! I will consider it. Maybe I will buy two grow tents and try hydro in one.

I was looking at HTG Supply and I realized I have one of their stores close by. So I went in and the manager said he used "coco." I never heard of it before today. He said it was better than hydro and he worries about power problems.

I am leaning towards that. I saw their grow tents in person and I got a better idea of what I will get.

I used to grow in a spare bedroom with 1600 watts of hps in flower using the sog method. Now I use a 2x4 tent to flower and a 2x2 tent for mothers and clones.I love my tents, got them on ebay now granted they are not 500 dollar tents, but I have no complaints.I am using t5's all around flower and veg and will be going back to dwc with 4 containers for sog again and pull a harvest every 2 weeks.I did learn that it is easier to care for them if you put them on a table, besides its easier on your knees and back on a table,I use them folding tables for mine, the table is 6 ft long so I can fit both my tents on 1 table and it makes them so easy to maintain and take care of.I found some black totes at wally world that will fit 4 of them in my tent for my sog so I can run 4 to 6 plants per container and pull a harvest every 2 weeks,I will soon be able to start stashing some smoke back for hard times,ie mites or whatever comes along.DWC is easy and fast growing, love dwc.
I got a 4 bulb t5 light atm going for flower and I have the option to add 4 more t5 bulbs if I feel the need or the harvest does not suit me,I run a 2 foot 4 bulb t5 light going in the mother tent that should satisfy my needs there.I am running agromax bloom bulbs in my flower light, and agromax grow bulbs in my mother tent.
I have a carbon filter and 4 inch centrifugal fan running in the flower tent and just a 4 inch duct booster fan in my mother tent,it empties plenty of air for the mother and clones.
Good Luck in your journey for a tent.

Go with Gorilla grow tents and never look back they are of great construction a bit pricey but well worth every penny. I have 2 of there 8x8's, 1 of the 5x5,1 of the 4x4 and 1 of the 3x3. Yeah I like em!

hello stratozyck.

I grow using Gorilla grow tents, like CoralMafia suggests, they are great and built well. I have two of them, 4x4 flower with a 1000hps and a 3x3 veg with a 600MH. And I grow in coco. Love it :). The lights are air cooled with a dedicated 6" fan, and each tent has its own carbon scrubber with fan. 3 fans total, all exhaust to the outside.

Your suppose to come here as you get older!

Yes, down here, the law is damning. In FL though, some counties are moving to fines for small possession..

Good luck on your future medical grow. :)
