Will a DIY MrCool 24,000 BTU minisplit be enough?

the room is about 10 x 25 x 7.5 with 6000w in aircooled hoods (600w bulbs, 2 hoods per 6" fan), ballast are in the room too. i need to bring the room from 85-88 degrees down to 75 degrees. i am in north east USA. will a 24k btu ductless minisplit mounted in the middle of the room work sufficient or should i go with the 36000 BTU model? thanks

these are all air cooled then your good to go . i cool a room that is a 20/20 with 24000 btu and the room is NOT air cooled with 6000 watts and it has a co2 burner . can get it down to 75 when its 90 out side . the 36000 will turn on and off to many times.

damn that things a beast, how do you run your exhaust fan with the a/c running? do you have your exhaust fan on a low setting or timer or something or do you not run an exhaust fan at all because the co2? i dont use c02 so im trying to see how i can make it so my vent doesnt suck all the cold air out but so i can still get fresh air

i am not air cooled . these are open wing reflectors in this room . so the heat from the lights go right into the room with fans blowing on top of the plants to keep the top of the plants cool . i just cut a hole into the wall and threw in a window ac unit .. in your situation you will have to poke 2 holes . one sucking air in from out sided. and the other will push air out . so the air in your room will not change . i just wanted to use open wing reflectors in this room it can easily spread a 1000w to a 4/4 area . actually will cover a 5 foot square i needed. so this is what you will be doing .https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/af/28/7b/af287bd55f26104c9b8912669f0c88f3.jpg this is what i am doing .https://theweedscene.com/wp-content/uploads/compact-metal-halide-grow-lights-01.jpg not my plants pictured.

i couldnt imagine the heat if my hoods werent aircooled... so then i guess i shouuld go with the 24k, its like $800 cheaper than the 36 worse comes to worse i can just exchange it

your good 24000. where are you buying this mini split and brand ? you get what you pay for with a mini split . and no matter what if your planning on putting this unit in your self . you will have to hook a vacuum pump to the lines to get out air and moisture its critical .

word i really hope so but thats why i picked this one, someone reccomended it, its specifically made to be a DIY plug n play minisplit. it comes with 25' precharged line... mount it, connect the line and wire it to the electric box and its good to go. i really dont trust myself with the refrigerant and im certainly not spending any extra money to have an hvac guy install one

trust me on this . you will have to . have the hvac guy stop over and hook his vacuum pump to the unit . if you dont it will kill the unit ! and void the warranty .

so you are running 10, 600 watt air cooled lights, correct? the math is 3500 btu's per 1000 watt air cooled and 4-4500 per open hood, you could do it with a 18000 btu unit, but I would probably get the 24

if you get charged lines, no need for a vacuum or hvac guy

i am not a professional hvac for housing . i am a professional in the automotive field . i installed 3 mini split units for my personal self my lines were not charged . i could pull the caps off the lines and blow through them if i wanted . that is why i hooked up my vacuum pump before opening the valves on the unit . i have never seen lines that had freon charged in them thanks for the info dr nick next unit i buy ill look for them to save some work .

Is your reading comprehension bad too? I said, "if you get a unit with charged lines", he seems to know the difference.
if he gets a unit without charged lines, he still can do it himself, he'll just need to buy some tools.
