Will a black light help your night cycle?

:leaf:Hello everyone:leaf: Im new to growing and i was wondering if a black light would help your night cycle or not do anything for your plants? About to turn off my lights for night cycle, need to know quick. Going to take some pictures also for my new post on my first grow. Thanks everyone for all the advice and help on this website.

they say uv lights can produce trichome production, i have never done it but from whom i heard have, have not seen a noticeable difference. if anything i would hit them with it for 15-30 min during the light cycle. the best thing for MJ at night is....total darkness

turn your lights off for the dark period. period. UVB increases potency (thc) in the trichomes, doesnt increase the amount of trichomes. if he's asking a silly question about a black light in the dark period, i wouldnt recommend anything but the basics for now. and you're recommending something you have zero knowledge on which is silly.

night cycle should be totally dark.

If you want to add black light during the day then thats fine, I was thinking of doing this myself... just gotta get an adapter so I can plug in another lamp to my timer

well i've read into the subject; doing hours of research and getting first hand exp from people who HAVE done it. I admitted to never doing it but relayed what i have heard, even from others on this site. go on facebook if you're just going to enter forums and talk shit faggot.

Well a black light is a UV light...It was also the first thing I think about when someone says UVB...I guess the difference is in the B

it's just discouraging when you come on here and intrinsically want to help someone and people have to but in with their two cents irrelevant to the topic. "IF ANYTHING" is what i said.

UV is for Ultra violet, and UVB is speaking of the Ultra violet rays of the sun...so I am now confused here...why are blacklights called UV lights?

Pompous asshole here:
Typical black lights, the purple-looking ones, also called black light blue bulbs, put out mostly UVA, with a tiny bit of UVB if you're lucky. As far as I know, UVA doesn't do much for your plants, as it isn't even strong enough to give you a sunburn if sat under for hours. UVB however, is the part of the spectrum that is harmful to you, and the plants, which is why they put out more trichomes to defend against it, thus the frostier buds. I have a fluorescent black light tube that I haven't even bothered to put into my grow, because from what I've read it won't do much of anything.

Now if you go get a UVB bulb like the ones at the pet store for reptiles, that would certainly have much more of an effect. Just as with the visible lights needed for growing, the spectrum/wavelength matters here, and typical "party" black lights don't put out the right spectrum.

Maybe your plants will party during the dark period with a black light and trip out at all the glowing trichomes and you will have super super dank dank!
