Am I too stoned to see it?

I see things for sports, gaming, music, talking about alien conspiracies...

Just seems a bit strange. Maybe more than a bit.

I hope you're joking... if not: Myopic much? Same could be said for any topic.

$0. I don't own any TVs either... only monitors (a couple of which are monitor/TVs). I also hardly ever go to the theaters (at those prices, why would I want to buy some hollywood star a mansion? No I'll keep my $15 dollars thanks) either.

What does that have to do with anything?

Ok, so now you're in the television and movies/films cafe.
It's very nice in here. I like the decor.

HAHAHA funny though... I'd prefer the theater if it was more empty... wouldn't you? Better class of people ;-) (unless it's porn theater I guess, then not so much)

But yeah, what with there not being one, one could assume a lack of interest... but I'm not one to assume. With all the stoner movies out there, it's hard to not believe there'd be enough to make it a... what do you call those, sub-forums? Top level topics? You know, Like Sports or Music (or Arts, or Gaming... hmmm)

No, not Netflix... plenty of free options. I am not against paying for art/entertainment at all... I just think those industries have very inflated value pricing, on the popular level (you know, the big companies).

You know I really need to watch that whole movie... and a lot of other classics... I know the stories and catch most references because they're so popular, but I still haven't watched a lot of the big ones.

I am torn between the first two things that popped into my head: Arsenic and Old Lace (hilarious) and The Wolfman (1941).

Yeah I've been contemplating hitting a matinee, I like sitting in a nearly empty movie theater. Something comforting about that.

I hear ya on having a dedicated section, maybe you can make that happen. I'm not into 'gaming' whatsoever, yet it has its own section, guess it's a generational thing. There have been several threads here in tnt that have been exactly what you describe. I'll bump a few if I remember, or just use the search function, which doesn't always work very well.

thanks for the recommendations. i bet i saw the wolfman as a child but just don't remember it. i like that deja vu feeling when you're watching something and it starts bubbling up from your subconscious and you gradually realize you've seen it decades earlier, but with a nascent mind.

Netflix is a decent value at 12$/mo for checking into television series.

A lot of early movies (B&W and such) are great... overacted maybe, that was the thing back then, and yeah the sets and effects were not great but, to me it' all about the stories.

The Wolfman movie was cool to me both for the whole story line and WAREWOLF yeah! but because of the character study: from priviledged to criminal... from snob to a more down to earth guy... and he's not a bad guy... he seemed so troubled... he's cursed, he hates it, he's desperate to find help and a cure... I imagine it inspired the Hulk series (1978) quite a bit.

It totally is... I accidentally have Amazon Prime (they got me with their free month offer when I forgot to cancel at the end), and it includes a lot of streaming content, some of which I was pleased to find (stuff I like and stuff I never heard of and liked, and may not have found otherwise). It comes out to $10 a month (I use it mostly to buy stuff... free two day shipping is great) but it's more limited, so if it was only for their streaming it wouldn't be worth it to me.

I think one of my main issues is just the whole rigamarole. I recall the first time I saw cable (early 90s)... especially the programming time guide... I probably thought I could watch whatever I found on there right then just by choosing it... I don't recall, but of course it didn't work that way either... but it planted the seed... the programming is all on media... if I could get a list of all that one place had available, why not be able to choose what to watch and when? Lots of reasons actually... but then the internet and digital storage came along (I mean their popularity in the public market, not that they were invented then :-P) and now it all just seems like greed and politics. I don't want to contribute to that. When I can pay, let's say Time Warner (owners of... well look it up) a small fee to access any of their media at any time... one that still makes them and the actors producers etc money but is reasonable to me, I just can't break out the wallet all that much..

I've got amazon prime too. Haven't even begun to start digging around in there and see if they have anything good available. It's set-up just like Netflix. I'm guessing they have a somewhat different database of choices. Let me know if there is anything worth looking into on A prime. Ever since I dropped cable, seems it just don't watch much anymore. At least now I can be more selective.

Here's a thread on what some ppl have been watching:

That's where the DVR came into being to fulfill that need. Now everything has changed again, for the better I'd say.
