That batch of soil may be a little hot for your plant Don't add no extra food for 5 weeks that's what I do and I use ffof Also you know not to ph your water because that soil will buffer on it's own rite .......

Yeah that's a good mix soil wise But ffof is lacking big time lately in quality control Got batches are kinda the norm which isn't as bad as the def me and all my buddies got in our gardens with the new bags we bought this year Just pay attention later you may have to supplement mag to prevent the def problems lots of people are having just a heads up for later in the ffof It's actually a pretty big deal you can see lots of complaints on the web about it. Ffof is usually all il run if I don't make enough of my own mix. But I've also used it cause it does have enough food for several weeks so me having several gardens it makes start up easier for me. I usually have great results with it but this years been a bit of a struggle with def. but it all ended up well for me none the less. Good luck

It says it on the box the bulb came in from the manufacturer, and I mixed my soil 40% pearlite 60% FFOF
ok the box is miss-informative. They are basically saying that a 200w cfl is equivalent to a regular 400w light bulb which im pretty sure doesnt exist. That is an equivalent estimate from the company and a bad one too. Hell, a 400w halide is equivalent to 700 +/- REAL cfl watts. Just so you dont go expecting 200 grams i figured id clear the air. Also, let her dry out a bit more before watering and dont keep that bulb too close. The seedling will start bushing out even faster with a longer dry period.

You started it in ffof? That's incredible if you did cause the ffof is hot I start my in sunshine mix 4 for 2 weeks then ffof but with less perlite. It could be the dirt cause the light is a cfl I don't think that would burn it less it was touching the plant...

ffof sucks anymore. so full of bark that your ph drops below 6 within the first week of using.
I noticed my run off PH was a little low. Can I offset that by PH'ing my water/nute solution a little higher around 6.8-7.0 or will that have no effect? Thanks

I've used FFOF forever and a day. Not any more. It's too inconsistent. It's either too hot or full of gnats or pincher bugs. Too hot for the seedling I presume.

i ran 6.8 through every time and it always came out at 5.5-5.2. If you add dolomitic lime at 2 tablespoons per gallon it will help steady ph (just feed below 6.8). Since you can't mix it in, you just need to spread it out on the top of the soil and water it in.
