why is my plant doing this? (pictures)

So every now and then I notice this phenomena with these plants. Today it effected more of them than usual. As you can see the leaves cup together and stick up giving the illusion that the plant has actually shrunk. Normally they look much bushier/fuller. This doesn't usually last for long when I see it but I'd rather it not happen at all. Is it heat stress? Something else? Any ideas?

FYI these are about 2 weeks old (will be transferring the bigger guys to bigger pots very soon). They get sun during the day and a fluoro tube at night (switching to cfls hopefully today). They are growing in Fox Farm Ocean Forest and so far they've grown pretty well considering I don't have them under awesome lights...

In the group picture you'll see that most, but not all are exhibiting this behavior.

Also if you have any other general comments on how they look feel free. Thanks.

Hey Dielaughing,

Seen plants cover themselves with thier leaves when they are cold. But yours looks like they maybe reaching for sun and/or moisture, is it possible??

It might be. I just gave them some water a moment ago. My last few seedlings didn't work out, they grew far slower than these guys and at a few points I overwatered them so I've been paranoid about that this time around to the point that I may have under-watered them. These guys are bigger and spending a lot of time in the sun so I guess I have to feed them a little more than once every 4 days... It might be the light too though as I tend to see this in the mornings. They get nearly 12 hours of sun on most days but then they go to the grow room which at this point has only two 40 watt, 4 foot, flouro tubes (this worked well at first but they're getting to the size where this barely has an effect)... Getting some CFLs today I think so hopefully this won't be a problem much longer.

When you say that they might be reaching for the sun is it because they look stretched to you? Or just because of the cupping effect?

P.S. Your avatar is super bad-ass.

Plants usually stretch for light..not do that. They look under watered. An under watered plant will sometimes droop but its not uncommon for them to look exhausted and reach upwards.

Plants look great for 2 weeks

it is normal for all marijuana plants to reach for the sunlight (looks like the leaves are standing almost straight up) at night the leaves slant down (sleep)

ots okay fir them to do that!

Very nice plants. What strain are they??

Your plants look great, the reaching up of the leaves is a good thing. Means they're loving life.
If it were me i wouldn't change a thing your doing, other than adding more lights for the grow room. They're not showing any signs of def. I've made the same mistake in the past, plants were doing great, so i thought they would need more nutes. Spent the next wk trying to straighten out burn.

Five of them are feminized AK-48s, and the others are mystery seeds that a friend got from (of all places) the jail that he works at!!! He's a psychiatrist for inmates and he says that they get the best shit in there so he asked one of his patients for some seeds and smuggled them out! And those are the ones that are REALLY doing well too. That story just cracks me up.
