Why is a weed so complicated

So you think you know what you want to do and then you read about 300 posts, on however many forums, and end up with a clouded array of options and ideas that stay really cloudy to a pot head...

I am considering starting a small op. Get my feet wet a bit.
I am a heavy smoker... In my area the trips I've gotten and have loved have been pk,gc,lambs breath, bubbleberry.
I want a shorter flowering, easier to grow, heavier producing potent plant.
(I know that's asking alot)

Give me your feedback along with a smell rating and where you purchased your seeds.

What about cross breeding some hermie indica with some auto flowers and back pollinating the strain? Wouldn't that be simpler? Then boil the roots to push the THC up into the buds!!

hindu kush. short, bushy, pure indica, potent, decent yields (probably won't make a big difference for a first timer). get the one from sensi, it's the original.

My advice to you is if you want to grow outside......I mean they pretty much grow themselves but indoors is a whole different story. Almost all Marijuana plants will flower in 8/10 weeks there is a rare few that take longer than 10 weeks but from personal experience the majority are around 9 depending where you grow and what strain. Indoors is a hell of a lot faster and a lot more inconspicuous (less attention)You can grow all year long and if you have it down right you could harvest a few plants every 3 weeks. White widow is a moderate strain to grow quite easy i would say, It produces a good amount, is very strong in its thc content, and is quite popular (kinda expensive too). Check out my journal and you can see the widow that Ive got going on right now and maybe it will give you few ideas about putting together your op.

Growing weed is neither complicated or hard,99% of the bs we all spew on these forums is not needed to grow fat ass buds,in the end it comes down to three simple things,light,water,nutrients,anything else is not needed,it's simple,pick a strain thats easy to grow,one thats mostly indica & one that has decent to large yeilds,then run with it.

Get your soil/perlite & fertilizer at home depot,take a few seeds from the next bag you buy that has a seed or two cause you can bet your ass that most weed on the street is a strain thats mostly indica,plop them bad hombres in the ground & call it good,perdy simple huh ?

People wanting to grow read too much shit about genetics & designer fertilizers & it makes them think it takes a brain just throbbing with knowledge to grow dope.

- 600W - 1000W MH ~3200K FULL SPECTRUM (more compact plants-less stretch, tighter buds than HPS, ie Sunmaster Warm Deluxe)
- 5 gallon buckets with trays (drill holes in the bottom of buckets for drainage)
- Pro Mix soiless (Scotts, Fox Farm, B'Cuzz - any soilless for MJ)
- Fox Farm nutes, or whatever they have at your local hydro store
- PH Pen
- Clean water source - buckets or jugs to sit water/bleed clorine; RO; etc
- Reflective material - white paint; reflectix (sp)
- Fan to move air on top of canopy
- some other stuff

Smell
Gonna happen no matter what. Stay away from skunks To help:

Carbon Filter & Inline fan (best option, when you can afford it)
or
Ona, a 5 gallon buckt and a muffin fan (cheap but just a cover up)

Strains - get 2 or 3 strains for variety, start with some classics.
White Widow
Blueberry
Northern Lights
AK-47
Kali Mist

You'll never regret ordering any of these strains from a good breeder, pick the different types of highs/stones you want - or if you've always wanted to grow a specific strain - grow it.

If you've got all the equipment I'd start out with 2 strains; fem seeds if possible (makes life so much simpler); order from a proven bank, proven breeder (Attitude, Pick n Mix, Dr Greenthumb, Peakbc, etc - check Greenman's seedbank ratings);

If you want a quick flowering plant that'll knock you on your ass try Dr Greenthumbs Endless Sky (42-45 days), but it's expensive. There are lots of great strains at Attitude or Pick n Mix for great prices, quick flowering times, potent. Peak has some great strains at prices so cheap it'll scare you away when you first see them.

Every one of the hundred thousand or so members here have their own equipment setup, favorite strains, nute preference, lighting choice, favorite ballast type, prefered air cooled hood, favorite brand of PH pen and a favorite type within that brand .... so .....

Final word:

IT'S YOUR FIRST GROW, NOT EVERY GROW FROM NOW UNTIL THE END OF TIME!!! JUST PICK A COUPLE OF STRAINS AND START GROWING!!

For my first grow a friend gave me a handfull of 10 year old seeds, I put them all in the same jar of water and germed 12, vegged them under 8 x 100W incandescent bulbs in 1 and 2 gallon pots of cactus soil and ended up with 12 x 6' to 8' plants that I had to wrap around the pots to get the height down so my new 400W HPS could cover them. That farce gave me the best sativa bud I've grown so far - just get started and work out the problems as you go.

its not complicated at all...just check out my grow and you will see anyone can do this...but indica strains are good for beginners, and if you live in the US thats probably what your smokeing indica cause its more commercial..

Cracker & fdd I figured I'd get a few of those responses. I deserve them as all the answers are in a post somewhere. I just don't wanna buy a bunch of stuff 3 times over... like a 6 foot rail for a mover rather than a 4 and have stretching or the wrong anything. My money will be limited but in the same sense I will be going with above average set up. I promise lots of stupid questions and one hell of a little room with all my readers ideas and help. I'm handy, motivated and looking to show the rest of us newbs with a little help and some drive what can be done. So stay with me as your help will become my master piece. I will go indica for sure. PAN your right. I said coming into this its called a weed for a reason. Then I read and my head got sore with all the different information. I'm not affraid though. I'm actually pumped about my next stage of questions... The grow room! It's gonna be indica for sure. I want to go sog... 2 5x5 (soil)beds with 2 1k hps, co2, sealed, a/c, the works. It will be a seperate room built within a bedroom.

My #1 concern is security of course. Like I said I'm chron head. Quarter a day usually. I am going 2 lights to cover my fun, and close friends to cover build and running costs. I don't want the smell past my basement or even the bedroom if I can have it that way. I know there will be issues with sealed rooms... heat being the biggest one! Co2 won't help.

I can give you a run down of what I am thinking, but my message is the size of Texas already. Please Any vets or experience in making this room a possibility please help. Please keep in mind things like smell (negative pressure and filters) running cost as I would go with more lights but I think 2 lites, a/c, fanz, filters, and all that ads up to be above average... specially when you add in mommy room. This bedroom is in the basement next to a washroom btw. Any info you need to help me I will answer and please again... ALL help is needed.

P.S. Can we make this a friendly one to? I'm not all into the big cyber thug thing. I have 3 f'd knuckles and a 3rd time broken hand, permanent fat lip and more than enough scares to say I'm done with it in person as well. I just want to add one thing. What helped me the most was watching someone else do it first. That person is known only as Mr Green. Mr Green's "I grow Chronic" really got me started. Everyone has a fav strain. Like Hobbes said, stick with the proven flavors for your first. Personally, I went with White Widow. Next, I want to order one of those fancy Cannibis Cup winners.

If you want to cut down on some of the cash its gonna take to get you set up build your own equipment. You can find several designs for do it yourself carbon filters just google it. As for lighting if you have a Light Bulb Depot or comparable store in your area build your own ballast and save a ton of cash. I built a 1000 watt switchable M.H./H.P.S. for about $110.00 if you buy a ballast comparable to that the least your gonna spend is like $400.00. This is not recommended if you know nothing about electricity as I dont want you to burn your house down, But if you do than you can save your money for some killer seeds.

Bomb I forgot one thing you will absolutely need - 12 hours of darkness in a room/closet which you can vent the heat of the ballast/light from.

Close up your flowering room; smoke a bowl/vape a bag and wait 15 minutes (back light watch). What you thought was pitch black may now be manuverable grey - you need to find each light leak and patch them.

I thought that I had mine cold, then found a light leak by my chimney. Now I go into my room with a bag once a week and vegetate for 15 or 20 minutes.

If total darkness is a problem you could look at an auto flowering plant - you won't get the same bud that you would with a 12/12 plant but I've read some great reviews on the bud. Shorter seed-to-bud time, don't have to worry about 12/12 ... for a first grow there are a lot of advantages.

I have a decent understanding of the basics. I'm just starting this thread as a fine tuner for my project. Money isn't the biggest issue, more so than me just wanting to buy the right stuff the first time. I am the king for buying something that I don't need 3 months down the road.

My biggest concerns are smell and power consumption. I want a sealed room so I can control the co2 cheaper and more effective. This sealed room will be a sealed room inside an existing bedroom. In that room I will have another smaller room for mom. I figure there will be atleast the heat from 3-4 lights (3500w or so), co2, ballasts. I figure I will need atleast a 12000 btu a/c. In keeping a sealed room I gonna need a ductless or split a/c unit.?. I looked at chillers but they seem to use alot of power for there size. I want to keep negative pressure in the bedroom itself so the smell isn't leaking out the bedroom as much as possible. I'll need carbon filters for sure. I'm wondering what is the best way to filter all this air inside the bedroom out of the house? Will it be to rank still after a couple filters to be dumped outside? Whats the best way to deal the smell. Yes I know there will be smell... Lets beat it the best I can though.

Growing the weed itself I'm sure isn't gonna be a total walk in the park but I'm more concerened about conditions and being ahead of the problems that are caused by bad conditions. Neuts will be a bit of a trick at first... start half strength and work from there. Sulfer burner here and there. Should be ok I think. It's the finer room design details that have the hamster wheel turning. Anyone have ideas

The smell is totally controllable! Just hook up all of your ducting or whatever exhaust that leaves the room to a carbon filter. They have few different types. General Hydro's got a a grip of different types.

You will need to invest in a blower which will be the most expensive part of your filtration system (carbon filters can be a bit pricey too I built mine for about $25.00) You also are gonna have to figure out where to vent it out of the room. If you set it up right the only place you will smell it is in your grow room. I vented mine directly out side (it looks like a dryer vent) For cooling I have a window A/C unit. Carbon will last at least a year. If you want I can give you some specs on a cheap easy carbon filter that works.

The whole secret is to control the enviroment.

I have a washroom right next door to the bedroom. I was thinking of venting it through the fan in there outside if at all possible. I will have to take a closer look. That dryer vent idea might have to be my solution though.

I'm just browsing some seed sites right now. It is impossible to choose. I been looking at these endless sky seeds from Dr. Greenthumb.... Everything sounds great... short flowering time, great producer... then beside all of there seeds they give a potency out of 5. They give it higher potency than the o.g. Infact the highest on there list. I've never even heard of it before today. And for some reason something is firing off in my head saying sounds to good to be true. Anyone know anything... experience? I just want to have a strain that once im dialed in is popping 2 plus a light... not to mention a narcotic kick you in your scrambled head high. I smoke alot of weed. And legitimate trips. I need something that will do all of the above with lots of kick.

Just took a pull off my big glass skull bong! Would have dropped Big Foot. I love Green Crack! What is this stuff anyways... It sure as hell smells kushy. Doesn't look to be the best producer though as in the 10-15 times ive had it i've never pulled out that much from the person or that big of a bud from the bag. I have another one right now that I only get about 3 times a year... Lambs breath. Some of the stankiest stuff. Only thing i've had close to that stank in bud form is bubbleberry. This stuff is the real deal.. I think I've heard its sativa... growers seem afraid of these on there first few grows. Anyways this stuff is stank! really orange and Is so distinctive in its smell. You know its Lambs when you smell it. A must smell and smoke for anybody. Guaranteed you'd put a smile on Snoops face if you handed him either of these two sacks i got right now. Also anyone had the pleasure of afgani bullryder? It's supposed to be the Micheal Phelps of dank in my area right now. It's just fresh off a drought around here to so I might not see it to next year if it is true
