Why do you think people deny science?

Man, you're really stuck on this climate change thing. It's true that there have been multiple extinction events throughout the Earth's history. a few of those events occurred due to the sudden release of co2 and methane. We're taking what used to be a natural process and industrializing it.
Nobody denies the climate is changing, the question is are we as humans contributing to it? Never before has the earth been home to a species whose byproduct is pollution. When you argue about climate change it sounds like you're in favor of polluting which is weird because I don't understand how more pollution benefits you personally.
Every species produces both pollution and co2. Nobody said they were " in favor of polluting ".

Termites produce more methane and more co2 that humanity, and they also produce massive quantities of chloroform.

Ruminants produce huge quantities of methane and co2

Beavers dam up rivers and streams, modifying the landscape for their own needs, killing off forests and grasslands to make meadows and bogs

i could go on, but why bother, the list of creatures that "destroy" the environment for their own ends is vast, only in the post modern self-flagellation of academia and the popular press are humans "evil" while other creatures are "natural"

and as to natural extinction events, your agrument that some "occurred due to the sudden release of co2 and methane" is speculative in the extreme.
i have never found such a claim anywhere.

the ONE major extinction event that can be solidly blamed on a single event is the meteorite strike that snuffed the dinosaurs.

unless Nasa starts pullin in meteorites and dropping them on the earth in the russian version of "science" ("Hey Comrade, lets do something insane, just to see what happens") you cant blame that one on humans.

I'm just saying that digging up and burning billions of tons of carbon doesnt seem like such a great idea. Butterfly effect and all... I noticed when someone posts a thread about renewable or sustainable energy you find a way to dismiss it or argue against it and I dont understand why. At this point it just seems partisan. That's just my perception I guess.

be dismayed and discouraged by the title. This video will literally change your life.WATCH around 53:50 just so you realize I'm not kidding to see live NASA video footage, I'm sure then this video will gain your interest and you will then want to watch a Film the same Length as a typical movie. Except this "movie" will change your perception of who you are.
I do Disagree slightly with how He mentions "Demons attacking" in revelations I only remember THE LORD's army not satan's however the majority of population will be on satans side, they will be Anti- CHRIST and arresting the Christians who believe THE HOLY BIBLE.
I am however shocked at the advanced technology in Noah's time however I shouldn't be when I think about it.
Along with the bases on the moon and the Old World bodies of course.

So you think it's okay to kill people who disagree with your incorrect theory?
And people who are right and worship THE LORD JESUS CHRIST and THE ALLMIGHTY HEAVENLY FATHER OF CREATION are some how a bigot, yet you can literally suggest a mass murder of family's that are Christians?
Only on a online forum that few see is this not bombarded with reply's of how ignorant and plain Evil your thread is.

This is plain and simple proof on a miniscule level of how we are in the times of Revelation mentioned last in THE HOLY BIBLE which is after The Son of GOD and is the final chapter.

I'll cite an argument i often find myself being hypocritical about:

Re: Vegetarianism: "the animal has already been killed; it would be a shame to waste it!"

/flip

Re: peat bogs: "i don't like the idea of destroying those peat bogs, so i would prefer an alternative, and coco seems next best, and seems sustainable..."

I could just as easily use the vegetarian argument against myself: the peat is already harvested (and will continue to be harvested, destroying those bogs); it would be a shame to waste it!

One person out of millions, refusing to use a destructively harvested, non-sustainable resource... is not going to alter the destructive harvesting of those resources. The businesses doing the destructive harvesting are not going to stop, just because i didn't buy ground beef or peat. They're going to do it anyway. My feelings on the matter will have no effect.

Still, i and many others do think we/they should adjust our methods to minimize the damage to our environment... regardless of whether "climate change" is even an issue. We should try not to fuck up the earth any more than necessary. But "should" and "is," are often very different things.

We start as children. Impressionable little balls of clay. Science takes the magic out of everything. No Santa or Easter bunny. Heavens out, so no after party (although interestingly enough, there are several scientists who claim that our consciousness does in fact survive our biological death - Smoke on that) . Schools are systematic, arbitrary and underfunded and many are so entwined with our country's politics that science is never a priority over sports or faith and not to sound prejudice because I love the south but much of the ignorance comes from the south and mid-west where farming and religious obligations are numero uno. When you are stuck in something for so long, it becomes a part of you and for many it can be difficult to change that which has already become so familiar - in this case the belief or disbelief in our lord Jesus Christ. You Bastards.:grin:

Personally, I don't think we start with such an amorphous spiritual make-up as "clay," and I hope it's OK for me to maintain that opinion.

You're entitled to your opinion, we're not children after all (: How about the blender analogy? while we aren't exactly fluid, We are essentially a bunch of random experiences thrown into a blender. By the age of 5 our brains are generally 90% developed and we are more or less who we will always be. If by that time religion and sports were the primary ingredients in the mix then we're going to be drinking something that has a lot of sports and religion in it. It is possible that genetic diversity plays a part in existential thought based on the current status quo but that is more a part of the nature vs. nurture argument I'd think.

Based on my earlier post, I'm of the perspective that we're not born as vacant blenders waiting to be filled. There was a spirit / energy / soul prior to birth.

I'm not thinking that's your perspective and I respect that.

when oh when keynes are you going to eductate yourself about co2 cycles keynes?

seriously what sort of dribbling idiot repeatedly compares termite part in the co2 cycle to humans digging up fossil carbon?

this isnt the first time your idiocy has been pointed out

I think the answer to why people deny science is pretty obvious; because the answers that science provides either makes them uncomfortable or contradicts their preconceived worldviews. The answer to the question of what we should do about it is much more complicated..

It seems we're in somewhat of a difficult spot.. the scientifically minded among us who understand what science is, how it works and how it's applied are labeled "bullies" when they state scientific facts that contradict, more often than not, traditional or religious beliefs, when nobody in their right mind would label a mathematician a "bully" for saying 2+2=4..

How do you think we should treat these people?

IMO, they should be publicly shamed, no different than holocaust or climate change deniers
America is being dumbed down. The 1st world is being dumbed down. The Islamists are dumbing down by death in ISIL, today.

The "revolutionaries" always turn on the Intelligent and slay them.

My memory research shows clearly we are a blank before age 2.

The basis of "belief" as adults is from that period.

Yes, anyone who doesn't follow your pseudo-science must be part of some vast right wing conspiracy.
