Why do leaves go yellow?

why do leaves go yellow b4 harvest.is it bcause the bud sucks goodness out of them?

not sure really. but i was reading about how the leaves change during fall. i cant explain it all but check that out if you get some time.

they turn yellow towards the end of harvest because the plant is trying to use up all of it's stored food, and the first places it can be found is in the older fan leaves. They use this to build up the buds and form new bud leaves. So dont trip because its completely natural.

oh i aint trip yet,i havnt reached that part yet.so if the fan leafs built up the bud,shud i not prune at the plant.i see a lot of ppl here r always cuting the fan leafs of,so leave them on u say?

its really a personal choice, i cut fan leaves in half, but only if they are blocking light to lower bud sites. Experiment as u will but you'll get a different answer from everyone.

or u can fold them underneath

I used to freak out a bit when my plants started yellow at the end, thinking I must have neglected something or overfed or whatever. Took pics and posted em on Overgrow, and everyone starts all these suggestions, calcium deficiency, underwatering, overwatering, acidic soul, etc. Tried a whole bunch of shit to fix them, and just wasted time and money.

The plants just do that, can't keep your ladies a perfect lush green from start to finish.

the leaves start to yellow, because their getting old, and hopefully you have been flushing. The plant starts to use all the nutrients in all parts of the plants, chrolofyl starts to get used up and die, and the other colors of the leaves start to come out (same as trees) some nutrients take up to 25+ days to get used up.
leaves should be picked off when they are 60-70% dead, as at that point their wasting more energy than their producing.

like the guy up their said everyone does it different, I trim some leves, not many. but some people go on trimming sprees and have excellent buds to show for it
