my computer will not read blank disks. it says insert blank disk when i try to burn a cd. it doesnt matter if i use windows media player, realplayer, ect it just says no disk. i used to be able to burn cds but now it wont read blank cds. it reads normal cds, dvds, cdr's with music already on it.
maybe i need to download a new driver ? im not that good with computers.
thanks

You may have bought the wrong type of blank CDs for burning with your computer. You may have also designated the wrong type of burn process (data vs. music) in whatever program you use to burn.

i got these same cds before and they worked fine
i think im using the right burn process. i chose audio, not data.
my old man had to reinstall windows xp a while back because our old harddrive shit the bed. i havent burned a cd since before that. maybe he forgot to download something? i remember him having to download drivers to hear sound, ect and a few updates.

If you're unsure of what drivers you have or need, go to Belarc.com and download the.. thing (sorry, it's been a while since I've used Windows). It will tell you exactly what physically comprises your computer (hardware) as well as all software. If you don't see a driver for your CD burner, you need to find one.

I use CD-R's, too, CD-RW just means that you can write over the data you laid down on them.

You may likely have to re-download the software. Did you do the Belarc thing so you know what to look for?

i had this issue recently and it was just something i was doing wrong. i'd check all options before i started downloading stuff into my hard drive. but that's just me.

Yep, that link there is direct for your drivers. You'll have to do the download, beginning with selecting your OS.

The CD-R's she's using are fine.

it could be something as simple as clicking the wrong option. we have all been there. like i said, i'd check ALL options before i started downloading shit into my hard drive. but once again, that's just me. :)

If it happened after you reformatted, you probably need to install drivers. Find what brand your drive is, and goto the site. They'll most likely have the drivers there.

I don't know if that's already been suggested.

i did the Belarc thing, i realy dont know what im looking for tho
You want to see specifically what the CD hardware is, versions, software and firmware updates, you're looking for drivers that have the same name as the hardware, too. I gave you a link to the specific d/t model you told us you have, but I don't know about your OS (operating system). Also, unless we established a VPN or similar (allowing me direct access and control of your computer) there's only so much that can be done remotely, in this manner.

Start with the hardware, it'll list that stuff. Motherboard, processor (CPU), memory cards, blahblahblah.

This was the first, best result I found using Google. I'm on a Linux machine and have no use for exe and other Windows d/l files. :)

itunes has been fucking with vista computers lately (mine had this problem) and it creates that same situation where it won't burn CDs. take it to best buy and see what geek squad has to say.
