Why are so many pot heads so ignorant of the law

I don't consider myself a pot head. When I have weed I smoke 2 or 3 times a week and I enjoy it. How come just about every person I meet who smokes daily has no idea what they are talking about when it comes to law or their rights? I know there are a few here that do but I keep hearing the dumbest shit out of these people. One told me that if you ask an undercover cop if he is a cop and he says no, then it is entrapment. That is so wrong it hurts, the supreme court says cops can lie their ass off, they can tell you that your best buddy just rolled on you and now if you tell them every illegal thing you two have do you might get leniency. So you roll and now they go to your friend and let him know that you betrayed him and talked about you 200 plant grow operation and how unless he stabs you in the back HE is going to take the whole wrap and go to prison for a long time.

So now the police have an airtight case with 2 confessions, both of you now go to prison.

Entrapment USED to be a um, problem for cops, but that has changed. I am long in the tooth, but it used to be that way, decades ago......

Btw, most people will think you a pot head if you smoke AT ALL.

Thats why you never tell anyone about your stash, I cant tell you enough people I know that have got busted cause they told 1 person about there stash.

Its also good to know you local laws regarding growing and how the plants are weighted on you, do they weight the plants or is it just by the plant.

LOL.. funny you mention the entrapment thing.. I KNOW.. I've had to correct soo many people about that.. Cops can lie as much as they want, they can even smoke WITH you, can buy from you- entrapment is putting a gun to your head and MAKING you break the law..

most definitely cops can lie and trick you. My girlfriend and I learned that lesson when we got arrested in the Spring. Everything got dropped to possession charges but talk about a hard 2 months of not knowing if your going to get house arrest/suspended jail time and a feloney on your record.

I basically learned to never talk to/trust strangers. I know that's not the lesson I should have gotten, but when you're at a festival and someone asks you for weed and you hook them up with a bowl's worth. No harm, no foul right? Nope :(

There are a lot of kids on here that haven't taken the time to learn the law and for them that is unfortunate. But I take exception to your thread title. How do we know YOU know more than 1 point of law. Most people who come to this site come to learn to grow and not the law. There are many on here who try to educate others on growing and when it is brought up a little on the law. We do know the law but prefer not to make statement to insult the ones that do not. The people making stupid statement are the minority but seem majority because the people who do know pass comments like your with a grain of salt and move on. I was a part of the hippie movement and we learned the hard ways how not to trust law enforcement. We learned the law out of having to stay out of the system.

When it comes to cops the only word you ever say to them is "Lawyer".

If they respond with "you aren't under arrest" (cause they are fucking smartasses)

Then you can say "see-ya" and wave as you leave.

If you get pulled over and the cop asks you to step out of your car, always shut the car door behind you, never leave it hanging open, that is like an invatation.

The policeman is NOT your friend, regardless of what your parents told you when you were little.

Search my threads, I had no friends in high school and took a stimulant ADD medication. Because of that I read tons of books and a whole lot about law. I have a book on my shelf called "Marijuana Law", I bought this when I was 17, I didn't try pot till I was 23. Also I know the state penal code almost as well as my best buddy who is a fresh out of the academy cop. His academy had online practice tests for the penal code portion of state exam to become a peace office. I score in the high 80s without looking over any books. While I might not know chapter and verse numbers I know my state law (maybe not yours) pretty well backwards and forwards. When I took my concealed handgun class, I actually knew more than the instructor about state law and actually cited cases he had never heard of.

I am not going to say I am an expert but I know state law just as well as any cop on the beat.

Also I started out in the "gun community" on the web, where if you actually have to use deadly force and kill someone its very common for cops to try and get you to make a statement that you murdered the person. A cop will say, "wow man, you sure did kill that guy", and since you are so shaken up you say "ya....well I guess I did didn't I". This looks HORRIBLE in a courtroom if you ever go to trial, the DA will convince the Jury that you actually said "hell ya I killed him and that piece of shit got what was coming to him".

Like I have said before, I have a lot of acquaintances (I really don't call them friends anymore) who are in law enforcement and the idea of being a cop has crossed my mind more than once.

On top of all this though is your rights guaranteed by the Constitution. I think a lot of kids today learn enough about the Constitution and specifically the Bill of Rights to pass their test and forget it all. They have no idea that when a cop asks to search their home or vehicle they can tell him to fuck off and slam the door in his face. If you are on a traffic stop, the cop has told you why he has pulled you over and is now asking to search your car, you give him an answer and a question. "No, am I being detained here?" He can either say "yes" at which point he had to prove that he has enough to arrest you, or "no" in which case you ask if you are free to go. He can not deny you this right without arresting you. Traffic stops are a funny creature when it comes to the constitution. In theory as soon as the officer walks up to your window you can ask if you are being detained and if he doesn't say yes, you are free to go. You can try this and take it all the way to the Supreme Court but frankly I don't have the time or money.

Hang around more educated people.
HAHA!! the first post stole my thunder! Well done. That is the answer of course.

Here's a funny but true story I read in a gun magazine (yipes!). They have all sorts of law enforcement stories that can be hilarious and informative.

Seems they have this guy for burglary in the "BOX", and they ask if they can give him a lie detector test just to make sure he is innocent. the "perp" agrees to this and they take a wire and wrap it around his finger and "plug" it into a machine. they ask him if he did the burglary, and he says of course, NO!! They go to the machine and press a button and a 8x10 paper slides out with the text, "HE'S LYING".
The guy confesses to the burglary after that, and they take him
away.

The punch line is:

The machine was a copying machine, not a lie detector. They just slipped the paper in and printed it out. He was so dumb, he confessed.

Moral of the story: COPS CAN AND WILL DO JUST ABOUT ANYTHING TO GET YOU TO CONFESS.

out.

I don't understand people who smoke daily, I tried doing that for two weeks once I just didn't want to do it after a few days of it I quit.

I thought I quit for good and then went back to about three months later, but never as much ever again.

For me it maybe as regular as once ever three months now, if. Probably not even that often.

It just doesn't appeal to me anymore.
