Why all the arguments over LED vs HPS ?

I was undecided at the time but eventually chose HLG , not into building anything
( I may break a nail or something ) so I just got the 550 ready to go. I wasn’t worried about cost just effectiveness. :)
Cob shops stuff is really good congratulations on your light setup !! I have been looking into cobs myself I run MH / HPS bulbs and love it just want something not as hot !! I’ll be looking to see how it works out for you keep me informed on how they perform please .. Thank you in advance

I’m about to attempt a grow journal. I did one run and didn’t take many pics but the results were most definitely what I expected. Frosty , dense high quality weed.

Yeah it is read through those studies pretty compelling I just turn mine off when I’m in the room working the trichome expression and resin is awesome and the smokes thunder the lights are cheap even if you go with a California Lightworks brand uv good bang for your buck like underdrive pulleys on a fox body cheap horsepowerView attachment 4176864
Blurple is out and dont really compare to nothing.Cancel that shit.
It really depends on the situation and how much space you have.Bigger areas would cost cubic dollars to light with LED.I think LED is better for people who are worried about the electric bill. They can get more for less.On big commercial operations I stick Double Ended is better.

Thank you friend. :weed: Hey, did you get a pack of the freebies Cannarado released? I’m going to grow some of those beans out this run. I already got a little action lol. View attachment 4179828
You seem to have things under control, can I give a little bit of advice? Plant seeds as soon as you see any amount of taproot ASAP. Don't wait for them to become long or you'll have compromised root structure.

I think a lot of it comes down to people thinking LED is LED. The early or cheap “burple” LED’s are terrible so from then on they have all gotten a bad rap.

I liken it to early HID headlights. The manufacturers came out with excellent HID headlights so every ricer and his brother went out and retrofitted their headlights to HID because of it. The problem is the retrofit kits were cheap junk by comparison.

Ok I’ll remember that. I waited 24 hours before I checked on them, and they’d already pushed out past 1 inch.

Next time I’ll check on everything in 12 hours instead. :) Thank you

Sounds like good stuff, as well as the grow you had to end. We win some and lose some , every mistake is a learning experience for the next round.

Myself I don't have the time to build lights I just buy lights that are ready to go.
In the far corner of my one grow room I have a royal gorilla there under a 300 watt led.
Plant didn't stretch much at all and is all budded up nice.
It does get a little hps light from a 1000 watter but not much.

Quantum Boards are producing the same quality as Cobs? I notice they're being mentioned quite often .
I just ordered a QB 530w V2... (:. Currently using a Mars 600w. For veg it certainly did its stuff. But.... on further advice and research about flowering.... I am hoping I can swap the current light for the new lights during flower mode? Considering the QB is said to outperform a 600 hps ( not that I can say that, I know that from experience ) and Mars 600 true wattage is 265w. Sure I can control the small jump ( I think ) in temperature.... but will the new brightness/white light freak the plants out as they are used to a blurple light?
Or am I just being me again? :joint::dunce:

start with the lamp further away or dimmed. and let your plants adjust. crank it up and move it closer over time if they can handle it. congrats on your new light!!

Hey , congrats on your new light ( one of us.... one of us lol!! )

Lots of people keep their old blurple for the veg cycle, switching it out during flowering sounds ok to me. I’m not sure, hopefully someone will chime in with the correct answer. :)
