what ever happen to good old FREEDOM of SPEECH if you don't like what some one says move to another topic and I am speaking of oldgrowth420 whose thread was locked because someone was hurt by the word love...and the post was in the spirituality& sexuality& philosophy where it is suppose to be. sure glad these thread lockers aren't government officials...but then again maybe they are.kiss-asskiss-asskiss-ass

That fool has had a couple of his useless threads closed and deleted. First time it happened he was clearly told how not to get his threads closed (by making sure that they are distinct from one another) but he insists on not contributing anything original and simply spams with scripture. What if I decided to fill up the board with threads about how my ass itches, they would be closed because one thread on the subject would suffice, and RIU would ultimately lose members from my itchy-ass spamming. If you like his threads, you just need to open the bible to any random place and just start reading. It's the same shit...

the point is not rather or not I like his thread, but that you have taken away my right to reply to his thread and he has not broken any rules...although you may have by calling him a fool!... here are the rules... If at anytime you make it known that you are under the age of 18, we will delete your account and all of your posts. This is not a joke, please come back when you are over 18. Although the administrators and moderators of rollitup.org will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. Spamming is against the rules too. No one is keeping you from replying. The point is that he made new threads with the exact same material. Only one of the redundant threads was closed.

Please don't conflate this with freedom of speech issues. This is a privately held website and the administrator and staff are free to deny anyone they wish from posting on their board. They are paying for the servers and storage. No one's speech is being suppressed by the government. You do not have any 'rights' to post here any more than I can come into your house and write on your walls. You are merely allowed to post here at the discretion of the owner.

I am the one who closed his threads, and each time I pointed out that discussion of the topic is welcome and should be done in existing threads. In a world where any of you can buy a server and then install and host your own forums, your speech has hardly been limited. Also curious that you would arbitrarily decide that the thread was closed due to the word "love". If I closed every thread that talked about love i'd never get anything else done.

Incidentally, the reason the threads were closed, and not deleted, is because some people had responded and I didn't want to delete their words along with the spam.

a lot of that going around lately.....

And bitching about the locking or deleting threads because because they were Christian/Bible Quotes and trying to say it was "because they had the word LOVE in them" then making an anti-Semitic remark??? REALLY!?

First off, re-read what I wrote. Since the threads that were closed were redundant, i.e. duplicates of other threads, you can reply to one of the ones that were NOT closed.

Second, who said anything about anyone being 'worried' about space? I said that this is a privately owned and privately financed board and the owner has the right to do whatever the hell they want. You have no rights and certainly should not be complaining about free speech. You can PM you bible buddy if you want.
