I think it was Dutch Passion that did "Orange Bud".
Then there is "California Orange". A clone only.

I searched through a pack of Cali Orange cross and found nothing impressive. High yields though.

Yes the strain is somewhat rare, i smoked it in Amsterdam in early 90's, lovely sweet taste and never really seen it since. Got a brainwave the other night to get my hands on some seeds as i will be ordering from attitude soon.

The mother is an unknown orange skunk most likely cali-o. The orange velvet is on the father side with jack's cleaner and space queen. An amazing plant got three phenos from last flowering cycle.

Tall sativa dom

Short sativa dom

Purple leaning phen

Ya next run I will be running some TGA gear. I wish I had know about TGA before ordering my beans.

I believe DJ Short brought California Orange/CaliO (cut only) to seed back when he was with Dutch Passion. The seeds are still available today from them, but were named simply Orange Bud to obtain a registered trade mark: http://www.dutch-passion.nl/en/seeds/product/orange-bud/

Aerick77 was the strains originator and he knew SubCool back in the day. If Sub had used CaliO in his breeding, why wouldn't he give him credit?

I have had all phenos of Sub's Agent Orange and my favorite smells just like CaliO, but tastes more like his Jack the Ripper.

The last really good weed available commercially here was orange bud, that was years ago now though. Got really good memories of it though.

Critical Sensi Star, CSS, from Delicious Seeds via Attitude, was a surprize orangebud! I don't know if the buds were that much hairier,
or if the bright orange color made them more noticable. But the nugs are big and hairy and orange!

BONUS - The CSS even has a citrus smell. A little slow in the cloning dome but worth the wait.

Hey All.

I'm a huge fan of the original Cali-O (aeric77 cut). I used to get some of the dankness nugs of it years ago from a small collective in Oaksterdam. I stumble across some clones of it from a friend of friend in mendo a few years ago, that has since been lost, And recently I'm making my attempt once again to obtain a cut of it, or some form of it's genetics.

Let's clarify first, that we're not talking about orange colored bud. what nonsense for such an incredible strain to get mixed up in a bunch of swag just because of it's name. California Orange is not orange bud. We don't call bud by the way it looks, that's stupid. California orange, is california orange. Better known as Cali-O.

In my attempts at collecting and researching the real Cali-O. I've gathered some of it's crosses. since we all know - there aren't any beans of it. So far, the hybrids I've collected that most likely have the cali-o genetics we're after are - Royal Orange, Agent Orange, Jillybean/Tangie, C-Plus, California-Indica, Calizahr, and Orange Apollo(maybe).

I'm interested to hear what people think who have grown these genetics, and what they thought of the end result. It's basically just a choice of what you want your Cali-O served with.

Some of these strains history is so vague or unknown, that's it's really difficult to know it's origin. But what did you think while growing it? Did it resemble the easy-growing Cali-O we all use to know? Does it stink of oranges? did it taste like oranges? Do you think it's in the genes?

All I Know is, You could smell that stuff through cement if it was grown n cured right.

Cheers my fellow orange lovers!

Got 2 regular DP OB going now, 3.5 weeks into flower. The yield is shaping up to be below average, not attractive to commercial growers. I imagine this is why you won't find it at the dispensary. The smell of the crushed trichomes is, however, very promising. Each of the two plants is similar, but distinctive, in this regard. It could be a good connoisseur-type plant, time will tell.

Final DP OB: 9 out of 10 seeds germinated. 4 males, 4 hermi, 1 female. That may be my doing, I push plants during pheno hunts to root out (and eliminate) the hermi prone plants. My prior comment about the yield is erroneous: this strain gets big. Great yield, beautiful dried, excellent lemony smell (and low odor while growing), mediocre high. The high might have been better had I been more patient. Chopped at 8 weeks, probably should have let it go longer. I would like to do another batch of them but have other strains in the pheno hunt queue.
