White widow, six weeks flower, is something wrong???

Yo my peoples!

I have been flowering for six weeks and i'm wondering if something is wrong??? my buds are relatively small and some hairs are already turning brown. See further explanation above the photos below... but here are the specs;

Strain - white widow
Medium - soil
Light - hps
Fert - Earth juice
Last two feedings i have added 1 tbs of molasses per gallon

I think my plants are looking good from this point of view, except for the traps FULL of fungus gnats. They are no longer present though, thanks to my friends the preditory nematodes.


Hairs are turning brown already - six weeks into flower. is this bad???


Six weeks into flower and buds are small. Is this abnormally small for sixth week of flowering?


Some of my fan leaves are turning yellow and dying. I hear this is normal, but other fan leaves are getting brown spots. is this normal???

I would cut off those diseased leaves and turn up the air flow. They look starved of something, maybe fresh air, maybe the soil is a bad soil mix?

the bud size is probably down to plant genetics and Id use another strain next time. The plant itself looks good enough, what exactly can you do but cut off the bad leaves?

Charlie Green, i guess that could be a factor... dammit... I went by the rule one gallon per foot of plant and if i didnt, i would have other serious problems right now.... currently, i have about a 12-16 inch clearance from a light that is at its highest in the tent!

Cannabong, genetics could have something to do with it, they are after all clones from a single mother, but its a common strain (white widow) and i have seen numerouse pictures of fairly decent sized white widow buds on this forum. As far as leaves and soil goes - I read that you arent supposed to remove the leaves until they are pretty much brown and dead, because - the reason why they are dying during flowering, is because the plant is taking mobile nutrients from them and moving them to other parts of the plant . I was just wondering why the yellowing pattern was becoming more spotted and if that was normal. As far as ventilation goes, it is currently so excessive that the very bottom of a couple plants near the intake got wind burn. and i have two oscillating fans. The soil im using is awesome. I had them in bad soil to begin with, as clones, but when i changed it to new soil, they exploded in growth!

Having that said, do you guys have any other advice and or comments that will help me? Does anybody know if they are abnormally small for white widow? Even after saying what i did about leaves above, would it be wise to cut off lower branches that are not getting light and struggling to produce anything but a few hairs?

I would just use a different strain next time and I will pm you my secret formula for watering. They might be a bit crowded and the plant is telling itself to not get any bigger

right on, thanks dude. I would have preferred to grow some blueberry but i got these clones for free so....

I noticed the same brown spotted pattern on some of my dying leaves. I've got gnats also, and think that they're the cause of it. I think they eat it when they're little (maybe when they're big too?) Not entirely sure though...

Thats a deficiency. Look at the tips bending down.

South Canada, yea, i heard that the adults can do small amounts of damage to the leaves. My gnats are toast now so hopefully that was the problem with the leaves, so it stops.. If you are still having the problem i highly recommend predetory nematodes. I tried gnatol for like a month and it didnt do anything, predetory nematodes wiped them out in one week flat.

Heythere123, this is what i am feeding them:

Earth juice bloom: 0-3-1 (3% P2O5 & 2% K2O)
Earth Juice Microblast which has Mg, B, Co, Fe, Mn, Mo, Zn
Molasses, 1tbs per gal recently reduced to 1/2 tbs per gal.

So, there is no Nitrogen, which i read you don't want to feed during veg. otherwise i don't know what they would be needing

I think i might stop feeding the molasses, this is what the plants looked like 9 days ago. buds are still small but damn the plant looks way healthier.

Thanks Kigasefbhe. Where might I find some nematodes? I'm glad you mentioned something because I was just cruising around in some gnat forums trying to figure out a solution. The little buggers have gotta go.

I got them from my local hydro store. They were only 12 bucks for a million of them. You cant overdo it with nematodes but the more the marrier. The pkg i had said it was good for like 3000 sq feet or something, So i used them all on 9sq feet. lol. They are mocroscopic and basically turn the larva into empty shells. anyways, I have seen them online for around 30 bucks. they cost more online because the have to be sent on ice or they will die. These are the exact same ones that i used:

when i grew my white widow from nirvana the buds seemed quite small too. i let them flower for approximately 9 1/2 weeks, and it was definately worth the wait, i remember i had one bud about the size of my fist, what schedule are you sticking to?

We use these nematodes for the grass...i dunno how good it is....fucked up puttin it on and you can really see where there was too much....the fuckin grass is a different colour.

how come you have to keep it a secret?

Here is an update on the plants. I beleive the molasses i used was too concentrated or something. I seemed like i had potassium toxicity which can be caused by too much molasses... The leaves were getting brown spots, edges, and tips and then turning yellow and dying. fast! at any rate the last pic of the spotted leaf is now dead and shriveled, along with a bunch of other leaves. I flushed all my plants today..... Only two were looking bad, the other two were toughing it out. At any rate i think they will all live and the buds are definitely plumping
