Hi all. This is my first post ever, but I thought I'd share my experiences from across the pond.
I have just (about 3 weeks ago) been compelled to move my work after a sudden and unannounced visit from my landlord.
The shame of it was I was only 3 weeks away from harvest (the sweetest blue cheese ever) and have lost the crop and a good bit of my equipment.
A few thousand pounds later, I'm re equipped and ready to go.
I have just rented a new work space (3 bed house under flightpath) and have decided to grow white rhino this time around.
I am a hydro grower with NFT and roockwool. I find this efficient and relatively light work.
My babies arrived a week ago 80 of them. They were looking like I had them a week early, but OK.
The root feed I am using is canna veg A+B 1ml per ltr with an addition of 0.5ml oxy and this is Ph'd down to 5.7.
In addition to this, I am foliage feeding. This is 5ml nitro, and 0.5ml oxy and again ph value is 5.7.
The lights which are 5 strip T5's are at this point about 3 inches above the babies.
I am also preparing the rooms that will be the grow area. 3 tables in 1 room 4 in another.
I have cut the 10inch exhaust hole in each ceiling and a 6 inch intake hole in each too. I find it also wise to strap the ceiling with 1x2inch pine as I have had a ceiling fall on my room before, due to the humid nature of the atmosphere, and the slight vacuum in the room. This strapping is also ideal to hang the lights from. Tomorrow I will be hanging the mylar on the wall, and setting the tables up.
I have already removed the toilet from the upstairs and will be venting the heat from my 2 rooms down there. I will also have an air-con unit in the toilet, that I will use as an intake for the 2 rooms. The 3rd room I will have as a nursery. I grabbed some of my blue cheese on the way out of the old property and am busily getting it to go back to veg again, so I can take some cuttings
The 80 3 inch roockwool blocks that I use on the NFT's is soaking for 24 hours in 2 100 liter tanks, each with 50 litres in it with a solution of 50ml Veg A+B with 25ml oxy. This is pH'd to 5.2 to take account of the rising pH due to the blocks. I should arrive at a pH of 5.7.
I will post some pictures as soon as I work out how.
