I like to use down to earth organic amendments with Roots Organic regular soil as well as ancient forest humus soil from general organics and worm castings from everwood farms and make two bins. One that is lighter on the P and K and heavier with N for the top half. Then the second bin I let it compost a for at least 2 months. I arrange it so that it gets heavier with all three (N-P-K) towards the bottom. I use seabird guano 0-12-0, bone meal 3-12-0, Rock phosphate 0-3-0, blood meal 12-0-0, greensand 0-0-3, kelp meal 1-.2-2, alfalfa meal 2.5-.5-2.5, langbeinite w/magnesiumn 0-0-22, and a good amount of azomite, humic acid, dolomite lime, yucca and add roots organic oregonism XL. Then I just water. It has pretty good results but only when it is composted for plus 2 months and adding carbs/microbial food and amino/enzymes.... Now onto the question, sometimes my soil is still composting when I come across some great clones or beans or I start a new set of beans before the soil is ready so I end up using it on the bottom half and leave the top half as it comes out of the bag with the exception of ancient forest humus and worm castings and Oregonism XL. I have to use a micro, grow, and some bloom nutrients. I have used Advanced nutrients that got the job done but nothing great.(ph coco connoisseur grow,micro,bloom- sensizyme, big bud, bud blood, rhino skin, nirvana) other times I have used roots organic uprising (all 3) trinity, micro from emerald triangle 5-0-1, hp2(roots organic bat guano 0-4-0, and a down to earth liquid potash and kelp mix 0-0-8. This has yielded batter results than when using the advanced nutrient line.... I am now in the same boat, my soil isn't ready and another is mite infested. I was thinking about using Humbolt Nutrients. The only time I have been able to get top shelf quality meds is by mixing and making a custom soil blend to begin and only nutes if needed if not just water. I get top shelf photo op worthy meds. Has anyone been able to get top shelf meds with a line of nutrients/supplements and a bag of soil right out the gate? If so which ones and how much and when? I also would like to know everyone's take on Humbolt nutrients and what is your preferred brand and favorite product.... Mines is everwood farms and down to earth with roots organic...Yours?

IM a fox farm gurl. I would love to get away from the FF and go organic this year. I'm a bit hesitant bc I have this dialed in so well and zero complaints. I was talking to a local grower the other day and he swears by a synthetic/organic grow. His shit was very impressive.

Which fox farm products do you use and which product of theirs is your absolute fav? Do you also grow in fox farm soil if not which?.... Which synthetics does the grower you mentioned use? Is he a hydro grower?.... I'm having trouble cause my grows are always great and the same for years now. But the contaminated custom blend I had composting and mixing since the first day of November of 2015 just got the contamination and it's about 120 gallons and I've got a bunch of strains like D n a strawberry banana and d j short Cocoa kush, blue velvet, 9 pound hammer, qrazy train, NY Purple Diesel, Rainbow mango kush, jillybean, alchemy, and grape inferno ready to get transplanted into 9 gallon pots but now I only have fresh soil out of the bag and at most only a couple days to mix and start the composting. So I'm trying to find specific products from brands preferred so I don't lose an entire grow... :( ... Bad situation I'm in... What would you do diabolical?

So far in my experience nothing in a bottle compares to true organic soil and soil amendments.... I totally understand about being dialed into your set program, mines got turned upside down by those damn spider mites! Damn I hate mites...

I like Grow More Sea Grow because it's organic and synthetic. I feel I get the taste/smoothness of organic but the benefit of fast-acting synthetic. Basically some organic goodness without having to compost soil.

I supplement with organic nutrients to create custom NPK ratios (my schedule and the NPK ratios created is shown here.).

I think the NPK ratio of what's being fed is more important than the product. I.e., a product (and the schedule it's used with) may be "the best" just because of the NPK ratios being used at different stages of growth. In other words, I think it's too easy to think of "products" as a synonym for the schedule and NPK ratio which results from it. If you focus on the NPK ratios, you can use any products to recreate it.

Here is a spreadsheet to figure out the NPK ratio of a multi-bottle "lineup" and its schedule.

I use fox farm trio and the beasty bloomz bloom booster.

FF trio is straight forward and easy to use and always had great results. I generally use FF happy frog as my soil.

FF soil and FF trio is pretty much fool proof.

all of them are good its all on how u use them tho i have never had a issue with any of them besides foxfarm and there inconsistent nutes and moldy bottles and oil rags in soil bags so stay away from ff shit it is but the rest is awesome like i said it comes down to how u use it to what u use it for they are all good in the own way besides from ff just a heads up tho u do no advanced nutes owner got pinched for fucking kids right so try steer clear of them were i live u can not get it for the reason i see alot of people here on riu still use it in support of a pedafile

I'm probably the only one that's gonna say AN lol. I love this overpriced crap. I see lots of people talk bad about it, mainly the price point. Honestly the ph perfect rocks, very little fluctuations in ph and when it does fluctuate it's about after a week and only goes up a couple of points. Never seen it yet higher then 6.0. Mix it with your water, watch the tds. Throw out your ph up and down, you won't need it. Water ph'd everytime at 5.5 and it doesn't matter where it started I've used water that was 7.0 and water that was 9.0 and it always sticks right on 5.5 with no adjustment. I will be trying a green planet lineup in 1 res here shortly. My buddy uses it in coco and it seems to produce quite nice and is about half the cost of AN.

Note: keep the ph up and down, gonna need it for early veg and cloning lol. Btw the AN up and down is super concentrated and doesn't take much product to get your water where you need it.

Would you switch to something that was identical to FF buy 1/4 of the cost?

whatya got?
I'm interested to hear about this Fox Farm alternative as well. This is my first time using the complete FF line. When I say complete line I mean the dirty dozen and the two newest Kelp Me Kelp you and Wholly Mackeral. This has done well for me so far and I'd like to continue using it at 1/4 the price if possible.
