Because like you said, tent height limits to 2m high. 6 ft. Open rooms can have ceilings 8ft to 10ft high.(2.4-3m) if you run a qb96 hard, it needs to be hung high. And if you're going to be in a tent, cobs are more cost-effective is my comment. COBs are great, but strips and boards are better for overall spread of diodes. With LED the best thing you can do and should do is lay out an even blanket of diodes over the entire space in the best way you can.

this is exactly how i run my 96s. i love em. reading this thread though i feel like its splitting hairs at this point. whether you go with the 96s or the 550 or cobs or strips youre gonna get a really similar result so id go with what really appeals to you and what you're gonna be happiest with.

if i was gonna build a light today though i would probably do strips over the 96s. just so many nice strip options out there now. when i built my light with the 96s like rocket said they were the only board with 660s added in. now its on literally every light. pretty cool. OP click the link in my signature if u want to see plants grown under the 96s i have some recent pics.

My point is you dont have to run the qb96 as hard as hundreds of watts. Performance and spread of the qb96 per dollar, even when running at softish like 80w, is still superior to 550s and 260s. Just think of it as a cob instead of a HID, just cause you can drivve them hard doesnt mean you have to.
And to get 80w of finished cob fixture minus driver with red sup at around 2.55ppf/w for 62$ is not easy, no matter what chips you use. Sinking is allways a big extra cost on small cob so even if you go for cheapo cobs on soft youll still see a decent bit of $ going into sinks. Maybe you could do it with 2x luminous cxm22, 3000k 90cri instead of redsup, cob holders, and 133mm sink from cobkits; it clocks in right around 62 for 2 of them and my best guess is efficiency would be similar.

For strips in a tent you need to figure out hanging/raise/lower from all the corners so access thru several side is needed. Also strips work best when you use many which means loads of work connecting. They are good just maybe not the best for first diy.

The strip lights I build hang by two chains and people tried telling me I was going to need to hang them from all 4 corners, too. There's no need to do that if you build the light to be properly balanced. If I want my light to tilt from front to back then all I need to do is loosen and slide the "V" chains on each side to the side I want it to angle to.

Says I cant view profile and I cant see sig?

Airwalker are qb better then just issue with heat like hid?? If I could I'd vert a 600 hps between my other 2 or run 2 1000s wud be awsome if I could hit max ppfd under led. Replace 2k hps. All I'd do to cope is put my 8inch fan on but the vents too big to vent atm without a bottleneck. I'm in a loft . Heat wise max 1200watts hps equivalent I can cope with

With or without cool tube? Also remember that leds need higher temps than hps, atleast 81F
