Hello, I am just setting up things for my first grow and I bought a reflector which fits 2 CFL lamps. I am planning to buy 2x 125w, I want an advice on - specially If I should use 2 blues for first 3-4 weeks and then change them for the 2x125 red once ? Or use 1x blue and 1x red all the way- can you use them both at the same time and is it any good for your plants? Or should I just get 2 x dual spectrum lights ?? Can anybody help me with this please ? I have not buy the seeds yet, but will sure buy auto-flowering. My tent is 80x80x160 and want to grow in 4 plants in 4x 11l pots. Thaks in advance for your advices...

Your better off with more CFLs.. I find the 25-85 watt range is the most efficient CFL... you will want some cool white but mostly warm white spectrum

Dual spectrum will save you hassles of swapping lamps, if that matters. I swap colors personally, but I've seen growers use combo's of blue and red if there are a lot of bulbs to change. Choice is up to you. Peace

Thanx mate, I do not mind changing the bulbs thats the least I can do :),, what I am, afraid is that I got no experience in growing so the timing would be quiet important, when to change from vegging to flowering, when these are auto-flowering anyway.... how long do you reckon should be blues on (weeks), before I switch them for red once ?? peace :)

ur tent is 80x80x160 and your only using cfls? i would invest in a 600 watt
yeah I am going to use CFLs cos I want to do this only for a passion so no need for quantities but quality would be great ;) ,also I do not want to let anybody about this so thats why CFLs too, cos I do not pay the bills - is somebody else,, I have grown some beauties in the past but under the sun.... so this is more difficult, so I am curious how it all works and hope it will all be a great new experience .....

i would use 1 of each bulb for the entire grow. i do believe it would be more beneficial for you to have a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio of the right spectrum bulb...
autos will spend 3 weeks or so in the veg stage, then switch to flowering "automatically" with no change in the hours of light.

thanks for ur reply mate , but what do you mean by 3:1 4:1 - what that means ? I understand that what u mean is better to do a combo blue and red all the way. but not the rest heeh ...also do u think 2x 125 is a good option for my set up ??

and do u think there would be a different, if I used for first 3 weeks BLUE ( or combo bl. and red as you suggested ) 2x 125 w VS 250w ?? its only for 4 plants... 11l pots

auto flowers

i am doing my first run on the berry ryder verison........i was told since they are a auto flower they love mutli spec bulbs flower and veggie

i found this Lotus...9500 lumens 125 watt cfl =ing 625 watt...........and a e26 socket ( normal ones in your home nothing speical )
i heard the timing is 24/0 veggie and flowering 20/4

this is what i am going to try in a 4x4x6 tent ...thinking of getting a second one

40- 65 w cfls put out the most lumens... say for veg you have 4 50w 6500k and 1 50 w 2700k. then when you flower switch it up. side lighting is also important when using just cfls.

  • CFL Lumens/Watt

    105w - 65.714
    85w - 58.823 (49.412)
    65w - 52.308
    55w - 65.454
    42w - 66.667
    40w - 66.25
    32w - 65.625
    30w - 66.667
    27w - 64.815

if you use 6 40w cfls youll put out 15900 lumens. with a 250w you put out around 15000 and have alot more heat.

18/6 throughout works very nicely. but autos will flower on 12/12 to 24/0 nicely too, i've tried many different light schedules for experimentation and have always been pleased with the results. and the dual spec cfls are very very good.
