Where did I go wrong with my electricity?

Well my landlady just hit me up. She said the bill jumped about 80 bucks a month, for the last 3 months. She doesn't really care about the growing, but is pissed about the $225 bill. I don't understand how it got so high. I unplugged everything, like my extra appliances, and thought it would really be the difference. I have a 400w hps, 12hrs a day. 100w t5 24 hrs, and 2 fans 24 hours a day. I am going to drop the hps, and go with the t5 unril I pay my bill.

So, I'm going to be running my lights at night, and cutting 400w, and just using my t5, since the vegging is done. Besides that how come it costs so much, and where can I fix it?

Also, say I decide to pay the 80 a month. If I have 5 or 6 plants under 400w, will it be worth the 300+ it will cost me?

80 notes is a bit over the top for a 400 mate, what are your fans using, costs me about half that to run my 600 but over in u.k...about 30 u.s a month...

Do not run the fans 24 hours a day. Cut them down to 12 hours a day.

400 watts is not a lot of electricity. HPS is for flowering.

Use cfls/fluorescents for vegging. (no hps)

yeah a 400w and a few ceiling fans only set me back $20nzd bout $15us. Sure your not leaving leaving heaters running and having 2 half hour showers a day?

fans use little power and cutting them to 12 hours can lead to issues like powdery mildew.

DONT CUT THE HPS IT CANT BE THE HPS . Shes taking you for a mug trust me . What fans you using lol ?

I have had issues with the mildew, hence the 24 hr fan.

Do you think dropping the hps, and only using the t5 100w from now on is going to hurt the plants? They'll just think it's really foggy for the last couple of months.

1 t5, and a fan should be nothing, right? Even in the middle of the day?

i dont think you will be very happy with 100 watt to flower with.

They're half way through flower. Wouldn't I want it to be winter? I live in Cal.

SHe's almost piised about it. I don't think it's an issue, but I don't have the money I owe her, for the last couple months electriciry.

i dont get it, i have a 400 on 24/0 a 600 12/12 and 2 6inch exhaust fans and 3-4 oscillating fans and my bill is up about 85-100/month.

i dont pay the lowest rate but not the highest either, you must pay a really high rate.

The t5 alone is $10.08 a month if your kWh is 14 cents. And the HPS is $20.16 a month with same kWh price. So the lights alone are costing you $30.24 per month IF your kwh is 14 cents which is usually average price.

well i live in Canada and i pay 8.5 cents/kwh and others around me pay 6.5 cents/kwh, so i guess that explains it.
