Got my first cake growin.

One of the caps looks like it's starting to open.

Do I wait until they are all open before I pick them? IMG_20150307_165935.jpgIMG_20150307_165950.jpg IMG_20150307_165935.jpg

pick them right before they open, if you dont know what that looks like wait until one opens and when others are about to reach that pick them. the spores in these things are one of the things that cause stomach aches when you trip, at least for me they do.

second pic might be a late abort... but those arent ready to go yet... like vro said wait for one to shed spores after opening and you will visually see a dark deposit underneath where the spores have fallen. not sure what hes talking about them having anything to do with stomach aches and if they did why wouldnt you harvest late when alot of them have fallen. Harvest right before the skin underneath the cap is about to rip. if you let them go past that point they do grow in size but very little in wieght. Seems like they just stretch out. and if you let them go to late its a hassle and messy to have spores everywhere

why is this
They are either water logged or rotting. You do nit want to eat rotting mushrooms. Stomach problems will likely ensue.

Many if the gastro intestinal complaints associated with the onsumptiin of musbrooms are not inherent in thd mushroom but the bacteria that ttack dead fruit.
