i am into day 55 of flowering and my leaves are turning yellow, i know from reading others post this is too be expected, however i failed to start the flush untill i noticed the yellowing. from what i have read the flush should be done for about 10 days, but i am not sure if my plants will last? i dont know if there are any bad consequences to leaving them in to long? Can i do a shorter flush? are there methods to flushing more efficently? any advide would be greatly appreciated!

Awesome, so there is no "too long". Why does everyone make a mad run to harvest? is there a benifit to harvesting early?

absolutely not... early harvests is one of the main mistakes growers make... basically negates all the work you put into growing a nice plant... its like airing up a tire, if you stop before it is done, it wont perform anywhere near what it should...

Excellent analogy Gogrow- we all tend/want to harvest early first grows. Its just so exciting to grow plant into bud and all. After a few crops you get the hang of it. I do mainly bagseed so I go by the tricombs color. Flush when just going amber, harvest at 60-75% amber.

Yes there is a too long. I've read that when you let it get that far the thc actually starts to go down due to degradation. I personally wouldn't wait for 60-75% amber, I think that's too far. I usually harvest when there are a few clear, mostly cloudy, and about 25% amber. Are you flushing straight water? You could get some clearing solution and run that a couple times and that will speed up the flush. Another thing you could do if you're running straight water is to water them, let them sit for a couple of minutes so the water can liquify the salts and nutrients, and then run more water through to wash them away. I'm sure people will disagree, but these are things I've done that have worked and things that I've read in high times and jorge cervantes' marijuana bible.

i challenge you.... ruin some weed by letting it go "too long"....:?

im not buying it... sure thc does start to break down at some point, but nobody is gonna grow a plant that long...

Wow, i've gotten lot's of great advice. thank you everyone for contributing, i think i will let them go for a full 10 day flush starting today, this is my first grow so at least this way i will know if there is "too long". i am growing in soil by the way, useing a badseed i found, lol, worked well for me. the yellowing i dont know about. i have had them on reduced nutes for a week or so, and then the yellowing occured, so perhaps its the light, though i doubt that very much. i was hopeing it was normal at this stage of flowering.

Me? You're the one that believes that there is no too long so shouldn't you be the one growing it to prove the point?

Chunky- If you harvest early like you stated there isnt as much thc in the bud creating a more energy buzz, shorter lasting. The more amber the trichs get before 100% where decomp. begins, the more thc is present-more couchlock high. Once 100% amber trichs the thc begins to degrade through decomp. Thats what I have read. The books also say to try a nugg early, for taste and high, then its really up to the person to determine what they like and when to chop her down.

I agree with you. I wasn't saying to harvest early, I was simply stating that I flower before the other person suggested. I said that I usually harvest when trichs are mostly cloudy with about 25% of the being amber. I think it's a better all around high than just couchlock or more of a sativa buzz. Also you have to remember that when you let it get to let's say 50% amber, all those that turned amber first are already starting to degrade. So you'll have some cloudy, some amber, and some that are less potent than the cloudy ones. So why not do it a little before that? That's why I think that going that long isn't a good idea.

Your right, In my first post I said 60-70% amber, I ment 60-70% red pistels not trichs, when hairs get about 60% red and start curling in is when trichs start turning amber so we are on the same page. Flush and cut. I am going to try and harvest jut top colas this time around and let popcorn age a little more.

Oh okay. Yeah you're right then. I usually don't even start checking the trichs until the pistils are about 50% orange. That's usually what I do too (with the colas). I think I'm going to try lollipopping a couple and see if the weight increase in the colas are enough to continue doing it.

so as soon as they turn amber colored the thc starts to degrade into something useless?? do you have anything to prove this????
