When to Flip my SCROG

8 plants under 5 sq ft of screen (2x2.5ft). Drip hydroponic system. 400w hps, mature clones.

I tried to blend the SOG/SCROG styles together, more plants should make the screen fill-up faster, right?

Normally people do 50-75% full before flipping, how much less should I do?

wappa strain, 100% indica, doubles in size after flipping, screen 10" off the hydroton, plants are starting to touch screen now! :-)

I'd flip it right as they start to poke through the screen. I have 3 plants under a 4 sq ft screen about 8 inches above my soil. I only trained each main (topped once @ 3rd true node for 4 mains) through 2 squares i'm just under three weeks into flower, starting to pack on bud, and I wouldn't have flipped any later.

perfect, I was hoping to go to flowering next Friday when my flower room empties. Sounds like it'll be right on time.

Thanks.

anyone else agree with that timing?
I run a high number count SCROG in a small area and I like to wait till about 3/4 of the screen is full. I typically spend up to a couple weeks pushing them back down & over to the next hole.
It seems to work well in my situ.

Your plant per sq ft of screen is comparable to mine - 8plants 5sqft of screen? What's the risk of letting it fill up too much, would it be a big mess?

My area is 17.5 sq ft & I aim for 20 plants.
I'm running only 19 now just because I didn't like the looks of one early on.
The M/H picture was taken the day of flip (12/12)

HPS shot was today.

Towards the end of flower it tends to get pretty shaggy with buds sticking out everywhere.
Bummer huh?
