When to dip rockwool clones

Clones are 6 days old in rockwool cubes that I cut in half.

I take the dome lid off for a few minutes 2-3 times a day and mist the dome or the clones 1-2 times a day.

The rockwool cubes are are still a bit moist.
Took out a weak clone I won't be using and pulled it out the cube and it had little spiky roots coming out.

Squeezed the cube and no drops of water came out but the cube you can tell was still a little moist.

The tips of the leaves are turning yellow so I think their eating. When should I dip the cubes in water?

I haven't dipped them at all in water just been misting. Should I wait until they get completely dry then dip the cubes in a cup of water for a couple seconds.

Also when should I slide the corner of the dome to let air in. I'm using a regular plastic tote so I don't have vents. Afraid to leave dome off because they wilt if it's off for over 10 minutes. Thanks guys first time cloning.

I leave dome on until roots are visible, and I also just mist after I have soaked in ph’d water and squeezed out most. Even after I transplant I water sparingly until roots are established.
Edit: I also ditched RW lol.

So basically let the cubes get bone dry and keep misting? Do you have to mist the cubes at all.

Yeah I'm probably going to ditch rockwool once I run out. But yeah they'll probably do just as good or better in a solo cup. Or do you use the rapid rooters.

Couldn't they dry out faster cloning in a solo cup? Just watering the medium once like rockwool. But how would you know if you get roots lol.

I use root riot cubes and no not bone dry, they should stay moist with the misting and dome. If they do start to dry out, that’s not good either, then yes mist them sparingly but never soaked.

Cool that makes sense, they just stay moist with the misting. Thanks for clearing that up.

Are the riot cubes better than the rapid rooters.

Not sure as I have never tried but I have roots starting at 6 days so I just keep using em, I root cuttings in a tray with a 4” of perilite and stick cubes in there, I water the bottom of the tray then cover with opaque lid under T5’s over heat pad. The perlite keeps cubes up rite lol

Damn I was wondering if they would stand up on their own that sucks lol. Kind of ruins it because I like to put water at the bottom of my dome for humidity and put the cubes on top of a raised baking grill you put on baking trays to bake cookies lol.
