When Mixing A Nutrient Solution Together, What Do You Mix In First?

I'm just curious as to what people normally do when mixing their nutrient solutions together.

I've personally preferred to add calcium/magnesium supplements first to sorta buffer the ph and prevent some mythical lockout i once heard of.

I'm sure most people mix the base nutrient in first, but it's still a good question.

Also i add bennies last, after ph adjustment. If they are bottled with humic acid, then i make sure to ph up a little higher than my target.

i have always started with the additives,superthrieve,liquid karma.2nd trace nuts,and the base nuts last,moniter ph and temp,and i use a meter for the final adjustment.this works tor me,but always learning something new each day!

Ever use molasses? do you adjust ph and then add it or add it and then adjust

i would think mixing base nutrients and all others realy dont make difference you think like which one to add first kinda sounds dumb when they will all be mixed together any way
but if our looking for which is first just mix al nutrients up stir up real good then check your ph
what i like doin is every time i feed no matter i keep stirring my solution up as i get lower on my barrel so i know its always mixed
so like water 3 plants stir solution water an so on )

reason why i asked is cuz molasses really darkens up the water and I wasnt sure if that would throw off your reading when using ph drops

i would try liquid honey instead i do and it works wonders

This idea of adding calcium/magnesium concentrate to my h20 first came from the warning on GH's 3 part flora series.
-3 part directions suggests adding the bottle labeled "micro nutrients" first to the water, when preparing a nutrient solution.
-The two part dutchmaster gold suggests adding "A" first. "A" always seems to carry a special amount of calcium/magnesium.
-And finally some guy once told me to add the nutrient base with the most calcium first, whether it be two part or three part.

Is there anything that should be added first to "buffer" the solution?

I googled BUFFERING AGENT. Fount out MgO is one. Magnesium Oxide is a buffering agent. That might be why I have heard of adding CalMag first. Is this myth?

I guess I just should have asked this in the newbie help section or something. Even though it's clearly a poll. I just want someone give me a chem lecture for free.

I know for Cutting Edge you should always add your micro first, mix it and than add whatever else you are using. I usually add in my bloom next and than my CalMag. I also use Sea Green last and let it sit for at least an hour before I water to dissolve some of the salts..

Never mix the nutrients together in their concentrated form, as this will cause nutrient "lock-out" making some minerals unavailable. As long as your measurements are all diluted you can mix them all at once.

Thanks. Somewhere along they way, I think I combined that rule with the rule about adding micro nutrients into the solution first.

Per house & garden instructions , first add base nutes. Second ph , then add your additives. They say the additives affect the ph short term so I guess there is some reasoning to it.
