when LST'ing, when do you release the hooks?

i understand that the purpose of LST is to get the canopy almost level so that the bud sites are getting an equal amount of light.

however, what i don't understand is how/when to untie them and let them stretch (if ever).

when you LST the idea is to tie the lead growth shoot down low so that another takes the lead then tie that down which makes the plant develop more colas as each new branch takes the lead keep tying it down until you are happy with your cola and canopy growth then untie them 1week before switching to 12/12 .

can i continue to keep them tied down even after 12/12 to keep them bushy?

yes i keep my shit tied till I harvest usually.......dont know if that is the correct way but it works for me
