1 week 2-3 days after first site of pistil, or you will have many under developed seeds, you may end up with less but the ones you do produce will be of very high health

wait until about 2 or 3 weeks of flower when the pistils are all over the place that way you get plenty of seed, it only takes about 4 or 5 weeks on average for them to develop some ive seen much faster, but this is a good guideline that i follow when pollinating. i

it may be all a matter of taste, but when I look for males, I look for the same traits that I like in females, tight clusters of pollen sacs, SHORT growing (short node space) and the first to indicate sex. That may be completely a waste of time, but I seem to have better end results when choosing males with those traits. But considering I can't do a large enough project, it severely limits the scientific data i'd need to accurately back up my theories. SEEMS to have good results though.

yeah, yeah, OBVIOUSLY I don't look for tight pollen sacs on my females, I meant I look for tight bud characteristics and therefore my theory is that a male with lots of flowers, would likely have a good gene for female flower density.
