OK. Every one has had this happen to them. You purchase a " freshie" as its called in my circles( A fresh bag of pot) . Looks amazing ...light green , crazy hairs. Tons of Trichomes, Gets you really high.

But for some reason ......it smells like crap!. And by crap i mean the dreaded " wet hay" smell. Either has virtually no smell or it smells like fresh grass clippings. Now this is good bud ... has the look and the High.......just no smell or taste!

Has this happened to anyone? What causes this? Remember this is not " legal budz" or anything. This stuff gets you ripped! but its not DANK!

I have seen this even at Medical Dispensary's in the the Bay area! PLEASE HELP! IN FACT !! I have GROWN some. Clones from Oakland Medical Dispensary's. Im sure its in the grow? RIGHT?

i agree with motorboater. too many guys are in it for just the money and don't care about their product to give it a few extra days to dry properly, and then at least a couple weeks burping jars.

p.s. dont buy wet weed. if its plyable and soft it's not cured and won't be as good as well cured bud

Ok guys... dont mess wit me.i have been searching for this answer for a long time. Sounds right..... My last grow had this problem. I have only grown 3 times . nothing AT ALL serious. But Last time i grew i got about 4-6 ounces dry. Good bud , but it had the " wet Hay " syndrome . I dried the buds for a few days hanging on clothes line with great ventilation. I just hang up in the grow room pitch black with the carbon filter and inline fan still drawing in fresh air and venting outside. I did not BURP jars as i have just started to learn of this. but i did wait until the buds were felling dry but still had a little bend in the stem. then i put into the airtight jars but i didnt burp...............can this possibly make THAT much of a diffrence? Please Elaborate.....EVERY ONE. JUMP IN ON YOUR BAD SMELLING/TASTING WEED PROBS... Thanks :joint:

curing it longer will give you your good taste and smell

and yes, it makes a huge difference.

your stems shouldn't bend either. they need to break. if you jar them when they are still bending, you will more than likely get a mold infestation

Ok . Thank you. I never knew curing made such a difference. I cant believe people think smell and taste are not important. LMAO . Its the best part! The stems did break just didnt Snap if you know what i mean . definitely dry enough not to mold. Bye the end of the batch though we are talking the sahara.............so its all in the cureing?

i never knew how much of a difference curing made either! everyone kept banging on about it, and now i know why.

i grew some nice bud, got you nice and high.

i had only dried it and had spent no time curing it, which now i really regret. when i had smoked all that batch i found the smallest bud (from same harvest) left in a glass jar. it had cured properly, but i don't know for how long.

i took it round to a buddys house, i showed it him and he laughed at the size of this bud, it was tiny.

i wasn't expecting much from it, but WOW!

The cure had turned really good bud into incredible bud! we got really high off it. next time, i will definately cure now i know what the results can be.

I did not "cure" the buds on any normal schedule or anything. what i did was hang dry for about 3 days. Then put into a large air tight mason jar. I would say at least 4 ounces dry prob more like 6. And then........ i just started smoking ganja. i opened the jar and grabbed a big bud every other day . By the time i got to the end of the jar, shouldn't the quality have gotten better? wouldnt it be curing? Because i think it only degraded as time past. the end of the jar was pretty harsh.

Hard to say. The stuff at the bottom should have been cured somewhat.

Here is what I think happened: You stuffed way too much bud into the glass mason.

Did it seem like it degraded?

The inner moisture of the buds probably stuck around for the bottom stuff. By the time you got to those buds, some rot probably set in, thus resulting in the harsh smoke.
