i have to many mixed feelings about it becoming 100% legal in California.

Yes it would bring in money from the sales tax. But the state cant even regulate the dispensaries now, so we are to think they could if it became legal? where is all the tax money at? i think there is 1 legal dispensary for every 3 illegal ones already. I have said this before and will say it again. " if they dont take Credit cards there is a 80% chance they are a FOR Profit dispensary" Also who is going to regulate the sales of pot if it became legal. Would the state a point someone to over look the trade? would it be the FDA? Screw the DEA send in the IRS. hell the FBI and local police couldnt take down Al Capone but the IRS could....... it all looks good on paper when the bill goes to a vote BUT.... to point out the drinking age used to be 18 until the feds told each state Either raise your legal age for drinking from 18 to 21 or there will be no Federal money given for roads, bridges ect. ect. so each state did fallow with the request. Now lets think if pot becomes legal..... what would the feds do now to an already cash strapped state. again... things always look good on paper but i do believe there will be a major fallout if it does pass.

Before i get a bunch of flames yelling at me. I feel no one should be able to tell someone else what they can or can not do behind closed doors of their own house. We are a country founded on freedom but we are far from free. i feel if smoking pot helps someone in a medical way then more power to them and they should have the right to use whatever medication they feel best fits. I respect the use of pot for a medical reason but as of right now i dont see a good enough reason for it to become legal in the state.

we are ass backwards with law

we can govt train kids to be responsible with guns and send them to a pointless war in a country we will never win yet we wont dare give them the responsiblity of alcohol until they are 21.
we can spend billions on war for our nations youth yet every year our UC/cal state education system raises tuition further spreading the gap on making our society smarter. we cant invent shit here nor keep good jobs here because we can ship jobs to another country and pay 1/3 of the cost. look at all the asian countries, education is a prime there, and they have the technology to prove it. yet we'd rather dumb found our society with regulations and not give our youth every chance possible against the world.

we have so much unemployment yet we allow illegals in everyday to burn up our social systems.
we voted for a socialist president who won the nation over via the mtv generation all on promises of chance, yet nothing has happened.

bottom line... until our society stops following every fallacy thrown at us, we will forever be opressed. our county needs a true revolutionist to stand up for the people, someone who will not be corrupt over power like ALL those who have have done. someone who's agenda is truly for the people. someone quote that t.jefferson quote about a self governing government please...

I think the chances of passing legalization in the next 5 years are pretty good. I think our chances for passing it in 2012 are above 50%. However I don't think the federal government will ever recognize it even if it does pass. That would violate ~200 international treaties we have. Those treaties aren't specifically about cannabis. If we break those treaties it would allow many other countries to do things like legalize opium and coca growing as well as engage in unfair/unethical trade practices and in some cases unsafe arms trades.

We are the one's who pushed for these countries to sign these treaties. We won't break them. Should we write all new treaties that don't involve cannabis use? Of course. However that would lock up the state department for years. They wouldn't be able to do anything else. It's just not a practical expectation. Because of this, the federal government will never recognize legalized cannabis.

I feel the same way! Great reply! +reps

Who cares when it happens?

California had their shot at re-legalization and they fucked the neighbor's dog instead.

Fuck California.

We'll never be allowed full legal until the feds lighten up a little. Even if we magically voted it in tomorrow, the Federal Government has promised to make us wish we hadn't.

It saddens me that it has to be a medical issue and not a freedom issue. People should be free to choose what thy put into their bodies and not fear the government interfering with their decision.

if weed becomes legal.... it will fallow the same path as the moon shiners. they thrive now but soon will be nothing and it will become more of a crime to grow after the fact then it is already. for some people growing is there only lifeline to the real world and the only way they have an income. some northern towns/ citys in this state would become ghost towns. the price of weed would drop like beef did in the late 90's ranchers who once made a nice living now have to do whatever they can jsut to find the money to pay bills and taxes and people would lose their land.
i feel the quality of weed will only get worse if it becomes legal. there would be a cap on THC levels, mite as well revert back to the 80's when all you could find was a bag full of seeds and maybe alittle pot to be smoked. the ones who make money from it now.... would no longer be making money from it due to BIG companys putting in huge grows someplace in the central valley to gain shitting weed. i like the weed were it is now. and i will vote no on it for as long as each bill they write shows 0 on how it will help California. like i said in my other post..... They cant regulate the sales and taxing of it now. so how do they feel they can in 2 years?

well in that same note why not legalize all drugs.... thats what you are saying right? Nothing i love more then working with someone who is high on speed, heroin ect ect. Im all for the medical side of pot. but even at work if i think someone is stoned i will not work with them. i will not put my life in danger and the life's of others just because someone cant make it 8 hours with out getting stoned. i am 100% against drugs in the work place. 1 brain fart and a whole building can be shut down. its not worth it to me.

Can't the same be said about weed if we are talking about all drugs including weed as being dangerous? Sorry but people should decide what can and cannot go jnto their bodies. Why not just take synthetic THC if you feel you need it for medicine? I believe it is called Marinol.

yes it is called Marinol. but you have a better chance at getting a doc to give you a pot req then it is for them to give out marinol pills. most places dont even have Marinol and you would have to wait 24-48 hours for them to get it.

Why so long for Marinol? Why wouldn't they have it at a pharmacy? Why is marijuana so much better for medicine?

well for my understanding ( best friends wife is a Doc ) Marinol is like a very strong pain killer where you need to get 3 doc's to sign off on it. they call it a triplicate. it isnt used as much on people as oxy or hydrocodone ect. most of the time people will only get marinol if they have some type of reaction to other meds first. i dont know of any outside drug store / pharmacy that hold it with out having to bring it in. normally only hospitals will have a small supply of it.

Respectfully...no. I have a marinol script. I was given to me by one doctor and the CVS pharmacy had it filled in a few minutes. My cannabis doc wrote the script for me for "legal reasons". I had to take a urine test for access to a facility I was doing sub contracor work for. I knew it would be positive for THC. At this particular place, a rec for marijuana isn't a good enough reason to have THC in your pee. BUT, marinol will show positive for THC, and that's just fine. Unbelievable. I took the test. Positive for THC. Showed the marinol script. No problem. I even took one for the hell of it. It makes you a little sleepy. As far as use as a painkiller...it sucks. Give me a vicadin and a bong rip of some Bubba anyday.
