Rhino filters.
If odour control is an essential issue then go with whatever filters are best in your country and go big for longevity.
You can make your own, but it only takes a small gap in the carbon to make it less effective. So be sure to vibrate it down and pack it full.
Filters are one thing I wont cheap out on. Because it keeps me a free man.

6" vivosun 440 cfm inline fan pulling thru an apollo horticulture carbon scrubber. Zero smell. Cheap setup.. keeps my light cool. Does what it's supposed to and only costs about $120 for the fan and filter combo on Amazon.

I didnt know that. Good info. I know if my room hits over a certain % of relative humidity...the charcoal ones dont work for shit. Iam gonna look into these coconut ones. How long they been out? What is it..a charred coconut type dealy?
Hydro shops carry the bags of refill. The name brand filter would be Phresh or Mountain Air. Mountain air is hard to find anymore. Can is also good.

Let me clarify. I have an ipower off amazon. 8 inch on 4 inch fan. Its still holding up. I will refill it when it needs it. The ipower is also setup where you can swap the ends to make it draw our from the opposite end.

Some filters the end cap and flange are what hold the carbon in. In the ipower it has blocks riveted in. That holds the carbon and you just swap the ends.

So you just purchase a new end cap? Or?

I like the vortex filters, saw recently you can just take off the end caps and swap them around so it sucks from the opposite end when it starts to work less well.

I live in a legal state and don't have neighbors who could smell it unless the wind was juuuuust right, but I still use filters. Mostly to keep my wife happy but I also don't want people to know my business if they don't have to.

That said, I use a phresh or cann carbon fileter, 4" opening x 12" in the tent with a 4" turbine fan. I have the fan on controller so I don't freeze out the tent, but it controls 95% of the smell, depending on the phase of grow.

I also have a 36" x 4" filter freestanding with a fan right on top. I turn that on when I trim. It's a room scrubber.

The combo works for me. But I have a relatively small grow.
