What's your method?

OK, so I've done massive amounts of research for hours about bubble cloning. I haven't had much success with it, but I realized that I read something different on almost every single bubble cloning forum! So far I've read the following:

The res should be lightproof, or algae can grow. However, I've seen plenty of people with clear res' with no algae problems and near 100% success. I've read temps should be cold, warm, and everything in between. From what I've seen, temps can range from 65 to 80 degrees, and people are still successful. I've read to add nothing to the water, no nutes whatsoever. But then I see that tons of people add superthrive, rooting compounds, weak nute solutions... blah blah. I've read you need TONS of bubbles, but I've seen plenty of people with weak pumps and giant res'. Then I've read to put the stems all the way in the water, but I've read to keep them out and just have bubbles pop near them. Seriously, there's gotta be some method to this!

So what do you guys do? And what's your success rate?

Thanks!!!!!

I would make it light proof, water should be around 75 degrees, no nutrients only until you see lots of root. You don't need TONS of bubble, and I strongly recommend that you put the stems in the water and near the bubbles.
Just remember, it's a weed, not a Japanese Maple. Try to find your niche and stick with it. There is always trial and error.
Perfection is not created with the first try.
If any questions, just ask.

Use a black light proof res.. With new clone cutting you want to put them under a humidity dome. There is two ways like i have done this.. 1. I have put stem all the way in the water also adding a little root hormone to the water noticed roots very quickly. 2. i left the stems right above the bubbles and that worked fine.. always try to keep res tank @ 75 and dont do the ph roller coaster ride adjusting it to perfection cause it will never happen.. The plant will absorb diff stuff at a diff ph level so it is good when you let it fluxuate i normally bring it down to about 5.7 and let it rise to almost 6.5 through out the week.. GOOD LUCK!!!

I think the most important thing to do is shave the outer skin on the bottom of the clone about an inch up.
not shaving off the thick slices, just take a razor blade or scissors and gently scrub all the outer protective shell of the stem off. then slice the stem in half about an inch horizontal.
This will expose the part of the plant that is made to grow roots, plus will take care of any air bubbles that will cut off water supply to the growing clone.
Then slide the stem into some jiffy plugs or rockwool and play the waiting game.
This is what I did to my 5 clones, first time cloning, and all rooted with only water, no hormones or nutes.

If the bottom of the stem is brown or looks to be rotting is it possible to cut off the bottom part and try to root again?

sure, as long as the leaves are still lookin healthy you can try again.
Make sure it's not the stem turning into roots that is changing the color first.

pwizzle's got it right, you want to scrape into but not through the pale green layer below the outer skin. That's called the cambium and it's the nutrient feeding system. If you scrape into it, you stimulate hormones to create roots. If you only get roots from the bottom of a plant the cambium hasn't really been tapped into. I get roots from the bottom of the plant up an inch on the stem.

The easiest way is to cut your clone right above a node or auxin. then once you have your cutting you want to grab the node you cut right above of and you want to peel it completly off leaving u with alot to work with.. then dip in root hormone it should work almost every time
