Whats up with canada?

Whatstrain

Hope its the right area but if not ill move over to where it is. I have been searching through google and whatever i can find to see what the current laws in canada are on weed. Cant find any information on the laws for plant limits. Ive seen some sites say 1-3plants=ok but 3-10=5years and everything inbetween. Lots of sites say the new laws only really hurt the big time growers (25+ plants).

Thanks for the help :)

Only way you can grow pot in canada is if you have a medicinal card and grow permit. All other grows are illegal no matter how many plants you have. So I don't think it matter weither it's one plant or a hundred either way you get caught it ends up ugly

Actually, the law is a little less stringent when it comes to growing weed. In BC, where most of the best pot comes from, you can grow a few plants easy, cops really don't give a shit up here as it is. But only when it comes to dealing, or operating a grow-op, it's a pretty good chance you'll be busted, yet, don't expect massive jail terms. A first time offense, probably a slap on the wrist and a fine. Otherwise, if you're a grower looking to make money, watch for grow rippers and the gangs, soon as they know you're growing, watch out. In Canada, the law enforcement is dictated by the feds, who are dictated and bullied by the DEA and the drug czar. It will NEVER be fully legalized, not until such a time as the silly USA system takes a back seat to the individual states, who are hoping to pass bills making it legal to use and to grow (still, to an extent).

Couple things wrong with this post my friend.. One, don't say it will never become legal because we are dictated by the states. In many ways we may be, but our drug laws are MUCH more relaxed than theirs. Also, most of the best pot comes from BC? Maybe 20 years ago haha. In Ontario most highgrades are obviously indoor and therefore are grown locally, but actually most come from Quebec from what I've heard. In terms of outdoor - hard to say where the majority comes from; between Ontario and Quebec.. None of it compares to indoor if grown in these provinces. Most of the outdoor I come in to that is good enough to have a name is Freiseland (Freeze) which is a quebec outdoor strain. Now if you want to talk modern BC bud in Ontario, you're talking about cheap, shit, headache inducing, "asian" or gang weed which is moved over here grown in BC in massive amounts by, you guessed it, asian gangs.

In regards to the OPS question, check this site out.. should have everything you need. http://www.marijuanalaws.ca/legal-laws.html

If you're medical, your doc signs a prescription of 1-7 grams daily, this controls how much you can grow/have.. some people have special circumstances where they are prescribed more. Here is the site, check out the calculator! http://medicalmarihuana.ca/

yesterday i was listening to the raidio and this is what i got from there arguments about the penalties of growing weed in bc. The said if you are growing 1-5 plants you are prob growing for yourself and they slap you on the wrist and give you a fine. As soon as you get from 6-200 you get jail time. so just have 5 plants maximum and your probably good :) Jail time is determind from where you are growing, rented, owned or an apartment. If you in a rented apartment they said you would get 9 months for 6+ plants and 6 months in a owned house or condo. Their arguments were how come someone who is caught drinking and driving 3 times in canada still doesnt get in as much trouble as a couple of hippies growing in their basment. They are currently trying to adjust our penaltys because its a load of shit they way are justice system has been pushed into by americans to controll drugs. You tell me whats worse, someone drinking and driving who can potentialy kill inocent familys, or a hippy with 50 plants in the basment counting the 20 clones 20 veg and 10 flowering just so he can medicate.

Any amount of plants is illegal, and while you might not get punished for just a few plants, you should still really watch your back.

The good news is though, a very important date is just around the corner for us Canadians. On March 5th and 6th, the legality of marijuana, and more particularly the constitutional correctness of marijuana prohibition will be decided in court. There is a very high potential that in 3 weeks time, marijuana will be completely legal, and this isn't just some loophole like we've seen in the past, just completely legal.

I don't like to make assumptions, but it's fairly clear that Harper does have an agenda against marijuana legalization, there is no doubt in my mind that he will do everything he can to oppose it in this crucial event. He's been oddly quiet the past year, the last we heard of it he vaguely mentioned simply rewording the current laws to allow medicinal users more rights. The damage is done though, and simply rewording the law may not be enough to convince the right people, the full issue is on it's way to court, to legalize or not to legalize. There are things in motion that even a prime minister with a majority government will have difficulty preventing.

Keep in mind though, Stephen Harper has no issue in abusing the system to hell in order to achieve his goals. Two years ago he didn't approve of how parliament was dealing with his hot topics, so he shut down parliament for two months so he could start fresh. Though, amusingly enough, in doing so he killed bill C-15 when it was the closest it had ever been to being passed. Bill C-15 being the one with 6 to 24 month mandatory prison sentences for anybody caught with any marijuana at all.

I can't wait for the results of that vote, might kill April 20th at the parliament building in Winnipeg though lol

the medical program is bound to change. qualifying is easier than thought. BUT if health canada changes policies and takes away patients rights to grow... are you gonna want them to know how much and how often you can produce? seems like information collection will be all to easy. hopefully this never happens to medical growers.

also, under 6 plants, not near schools, no kids, non rental and a locked grow area / cab will always help your case.
never distribute. -example possessing over 3kg of grass = max 5 years
trafficking under 3kg of grass = max 5 years

so technically, trafficking an ounce in the wrong place at the wrong time can land you as much as carrying over 3 kilos....

found this too but im not sure if this is still on the table or was killed with c-15...
