whats the deal on trimming the fan leaves

Hey guys, I was just wondering.. what's the deal on trimming the fan leaves? I currently have some branches growing out at the internodes, and some of the big fan leaves get in the way of light to the undergrowth..

I was just wondering when, and how this should be done. I would also like to know some pro's and con's of this whole fan leaf trimming thing, I just want what's best for the bud growth. Thanks in advance guys!

man, you gunna get tons of feedback on this, at leastm you should. there is a big debate on this subject, I'll let the "experts" get into this one.

maybe you can pull some fan leaves off of the bottom during the first couple days of flowering to promote airflow through the plant, or if they are more than 50% dead, but i wouldn't mess with them otherwise Thats how they get energy!

I was never a fan of trimming the fan leaves, yet they do block growth to the undergrowth.. Kinda debating what should be done..

that's the debate.... allow light to the lower parts, or let the leaves produce energy.......

I'd say just tuck them up somewhere and if they start to die then pick them off, thats what I've been doing. although i do alway take out everything on the bottom third of the plant before 2 weeks flowering so that the plant puts more energy in to the top anyway.

on my first few grows i pruned the plants like a madman throughout each stage of life.i mean like between 4 plants probably 30 or 40 leaves a month even in flowering i never had a problem believe it or no granted they didnt grow to the celing and i was avaraging 2 1/2 dry ozs. a plant i noticed that they were stunted as far as seedling to flowering times but i certaintly had no memorable adverse affects from pruning.
After having read so much on techniques i started my new crop without triming only topping and clipping a few leaves at bud sites but i find that i am gonna have a hell of alot of plant that willnot form bud due to lack of light penetration.

i noticed plants that r pruned throughout the stages of life grow more outwards and christmas tree like, with plenty of branch showing between vegitation this was a small plant that i pruned throuhout every stage even flowering..

I've always trimmed / pruned heavily, always will, just a preferance of mine.
My plants are currently flowering, I've topped one, haven't the other, so I'm interested in the outcomes and weights of both dried.

I wonder if techniques could be borrowed from the wine growers. They have sort of the same goals in mind with how they grow vines.

Well, I am getting a little advice, nothing overly informative..
I think I will prune one of my plants, and see how she starts to turn out.
I'm guessing I should cut as close to the internode as possible, at an angle?
Thanks guys

Depending were and when you cut off fan leafs but from my experance it slows growth and lowers yields ,They Need them fan leafs man the best way to grow is just to let nature take its place .

ive heard of people cutting off only half the leaf. but yeah you really wanna have those big ass fan leaves. they take the in the sun and convert it to energy for the plant..i only remove dead leaves that are over 50% fucked. i also like to remove the bottom 1/3 of the leaves for air flow

let em grow bro.....the bad you can do far outweighs the good from pulling random fan leaves. i have noticed that when i prune it directly affects that part of the plant down the road. into the end of my 2nd grow and my new rule is let it go /grow. let mother nature do her thing. if a fan looks like its dying then yeah but otherwise let that baby grow.
