Whats Ideal?

Alright im a novice grower id say. just a couple growers under my belt. I see scattered in posts about people getting so many grams to so many watts. Im just curious as to is there like a "should be" or "ideal" range for yielding or growing or whatever? Feel like im missing out on something crucial and its because i tie things together that arent related . Any help is welcome, thanks!

1 gram per watt makes me happy.

Although I have seen people crush that, anything less you might want to tinker around a bit.
