What would you like to see more or less of in the Oregon section?

Mygirls, it is obvious that you did not read the very first post I put on MY thread. It says I think folks should stay on topic, or start their own thread.

What is so hard about starting your own thread? I guess that is the question? WHY, when I ask you nicely to stay on topic or start your own thread, do you still post off topic here? Is it because I told you I do not want it on my thread, and you just cannot live without posting on my thread?

I can tell you it is because you have no respect. Go start your own thread, and you can talk about whatever you want. Try having a little respect for people. Frankly, I am amazed that another mod would not understand how this shit works......but then again, no one had to pass a test to be a mod.....

i like the newb section idea, we can post links to good threads and how to threads for them and help them if they have questions, or a thread to share soil mixtures and prices on it

Thanks for getting this thread back on Subject, McPurple! You get it. Go start the newb section if you want to....just try to make it clear what we are going for in the title and explanation, so folks can stay on subject.

Thanks to everyone out there respecting other folks, and making this a positive place to post! I appreciate the mutual respect.

Let's hear some feedback......I would like to know what the rest of the Oregon section thinks about respecting the other members' started threads?

Should we allow folks to hijack threads, taking them totally off subject for seemingly no reason? Or do we, as a forum, believe that threads are started to talk about the subject matter of the thread, not to start side conversations that could be held in a private message and have no pertinence to the subject matter at hand.

If I start a thread, I should be able to ask people to post opinions on that subject that I started. I should be able to rest easy that a majority of RIU understands that if we all just wanted to chat, this would be one big chat room without any subject lines, or different threads.

I already know how one member feels (one that keeps hijacking threads that are not his), so I would like to hear the thoughts of the other Oregon RIU members. Instead of making this a fight about this....let's have a discussion as to what we, as a group, expect of one another.

I expect that people will be respectful of other people's threads, and try to stay on point.....like I have said from the very beginning. I think that if I start a thread, I can ask someone to stay on point, because it is my thread.

Now if someone else started a thread about circus freaks, I may want say hi to my friend in that thread, but I realize that it really has no place in the thread, it is really a situation that I should send a PM to my friend. But this is just the way I think.

I think that if everyone showed mutual respect, trying to not step on each others toes, we would do pretty well here.

Overall, make your opinion on this subject known......please do not hijack this conversation just to tell your friend that you want to taste their medicine.....

I vote no hijacking unless the OP is ok with it. im usally open for anything in all my threads but some do need to just stay on the same subject so no one gets lost

Sometimes we all have a medicated moment and get off track,as long as its not shit talk I don't see a huge problem just keep the thread moving forward

Hey, McPurp! I was thinking about the hijacking thing, and I was realizing that we may have some folks in the Oregon section that may be newer to the online experience, and may not even understand things like hijacking, etc.

If any of you have any questions about these things, please do not be ashamed to ask. It took me a while to learn the lingo back in the day, and it took me a while to get to know the culture that is RIU.

So I just looked it up on the off topic stuff, and moderator guidelines......it says that off topic remarks will be considered spam, and removed or edited if need be. I will try to be forgiving, but please, keep this in mind when posting....let's keep things on topic to the best of our abilities. i still would like to others grows if possible. ive only seen a few and i even shared my last grow i did last year.

there is a section of this site which is labled staff only, you (as a mod) have access to this area... it is there so that you can find out just exactly how to deal with things as they happen, as well as to know which behaviors are allowed and not, and as a mod, frankly YOU should have been paying enough attention to this important task to stay informed with what is happening on the site as well as what your job is... being a mod myself, i am a little disappointed that you do not take your job more seriously than it appears that you do... i am angry enough at your actions to post this publicly as opposed to in a pm, because i feel you need to know just how deep my displeasure is with both you and your conduct... please refrain from attacking your fellow mods in the future or hi-jacking their threads (or any threads at all for that matter), and consider this your last warning, straighten up and fly right young person.. your behavior up to this point has been allowed, but going forward you must behave according to the higher standards of this site or face consequences both as a user and especially as a mod... i really expect better of you, as you should of yourself...

If i might make an observation just arriving here being an outsider. This above mentioned attitude is what is hurting this section. If you honestly want to move on and have a better thread you wouldn't even say things like this. Yes from what I have read in other threads like the now closed wake n bake thread, hazo also didnt need to start calling out the dude on his prices. That's a private message thing and it hurt the topic. hazo not point fingers, you did ask at the end of the thread for the "oregonians" opinion. Everyone just understand like i said on a different thread. We are all very passionate about the way we think things should go but if we keep positive it will ultimately help the movement here in oregon and around the world. Thank you

Thank you for your input. I think if you read the Moderator's post above, it should explain it all pretty well. I am merely moving on from this coversation, because I think nl3004 nipped it in the bud. I suggest that everyone leave it at that.....nl3004 is a moderator that helps me understand my duties, and I appreciate his perspective.

Soooooo, to get this thread back on......cptweed's suggestion is to keep things positive in the future, and I totally agree.

I would also like to make the point that I am not always acting as a mod, I like to post just like I always did, and in fact, I can pick and choose what to get involved with as a mod, or not to get involved at all. They leave it up to us, but they do hold us to a higher standard, so I am trying hard to hold myself to that higher standard.

The only time I am using my mod abilities is when I am deleting an insulting or off topic post, or combining threads, or banning someone. When I ask you nicely to do something, it is merely as an RIU member. Thanks so much for the help in getting this site going in the right direction!

One of our mods has already seen the difference in our section, and has given us compliments on our progress! Keep it going. Start more threads, get involved! We make this community what it is.....the more good folks we have here, the better our forum will be!

and you new mos are being very picky on things.. grow up.

Any more suggestions on how to make this a more positive environment? I am really enjoying seeing folks come out of the woodwork! Let's keep the Oregon section going in the right direction! It has been showing some signs of greatness recently!
