What would YOU DO!!?!?

So can either run a 48 plant sog in a RDWC under 1k in a 4x4 OR 16 plants (1 per sqft) which Im not sure how to train for that exactly, OR a 4 plant scrog.

Im looking for most efficient highest yielding way to go.

I understand the risks and positives of each, im just looking for opinions on what other people would do!

4x4 isn't very big. 48 plants in a 4x4 I think is a waste of seeds. Even 16 is too many for that space IMHO. In a 4x4 I wouldn't go more than 4 maybe 6 tops. Good luck

Are you speaking from experience or matter of opinion? SOG isnt very uncommon and they usually go 4 per sq/ft which I would be doing 3 sq/ft .

Any other input?

I ran 6 plants in my 4x2 foot tent, I did a couple scrog style (with individual scrog screens that were attached to the pot) and yielded about a pound my first run.

48 plants would definitely be too many. Personally, other than good genetics and proper training, I don't think anything helps out yield more than enough vegging. I have seen what you are talking about, with guys who have a shit ton of 1 foot tall plants, all with single tops/colas in a scrog screen. Maybe it works for some, but I would imagine it takes a lot of practice getting a system to run like that and yield more than you would by having less plants in the same space but growing them bigger.

If you want my opinion, topping works well but slows the plant down, especially if you are going for 8-16 tops. I've found what works best for me is topping once, and then letting each top get about 8-12 inches and LST'ing them down horizontally. That way they are only getting slowed down once with one cut/top, but you still wind up with 10-15 colas in each plant. After I tie them down and the branches start pointing up towards the light, I work them through a scrog screen and then let them veg for another few weeks.

Plants are like cars, there's no replacement for displacement. Like I said tho, I have seen some (very few) people master what you are wanting to do, and it is possible but I think generally people have an easier time getting more yield by having bigger plants, instead of more plants that are smaller and maybe 1 extra crop a year. With my method I can pretty easily get a half pound per plant as long as it has the space. My first run was a pound-- a half a pound between 5 smaller plants and the other half pound on one big plant that I let veg 2-3 weeks longer than the other ones.

And here's my og kush that is a little over 2 weeks in flower. I was told that OG is not a heavy yielder, so I set out to prove that even low-yielding genetics can still net you some decent weight:

7 gallon smart pot, and you can see (what's left of) the plant to the right--its the one from my first harvest that I tied down and put into the individual scrog screen. I only vegged that og for about 2 months from seed, which to me was worth the wait (weight, nyuck nyuck). This og is dank too, loaded with trichromes @ 2 weeks in flower.

A 4x4 tent is what I have and the most I would ever think about putting in there is 16 plants but that is pushing the limits.

Agreed, I just got a 5x5 tent and I'm planning on putting 12, or maybe ten depending on how big they get.

Thanks for this post, very informative for me, because I was wondering the same, since I do have two separate tents one for my DWC, thanks, they look much better popcorn900, I flushed them, changed the resovoir, just have ro water and Aquashield and can see the difference in a day, I did burn the hell out of them, but good information for my soilless grow in those hydro farm sacks about how many to use and scrounging, a lot of informative info, I learn everyday just reading other peoples posts, so I don't have to post and look like an idiot!

When you say aqua shield, are you talking about botanicares stuff? I picked some up the other day for my new aeroponic setup, so that I can keep the bacteria in my res under control. So when your plants were getting burned, it really helped out by flushing and adding the aqua shield?

^^^Ya i'm pretty sure she has the botanicare brand. Flushing the res is great but adding peroxide or aquashield will also stimulate new root growth thus aid in the plants recovery..

48 plants is mad in a 4x4! Bigger is better I agree 4 5gallon pots grow some monster trees train em and scrog em you'll pull fuck loads of big tasty buds mate, much better than loads of little plants with little buds - the weed will always fill up whatever space you give it, I deffo think you'll pull more that way

My problem was I burnt my dwc setup by adding nutes too soon, took pop corns advice, flushed my resovoir, remember my plants are about a month old, I put way too much nutes in there, so I flushed it, my first resovoir change I had some slime, so we added Aquashield, now my husband who changed out the resovoir told me he added just plain ro water and H2o2 by Grow-tek, the resovoir is clean, no slime or brown roots, perfectly healthy babies bouncing back after the nitrogen burn, leaves curled under like a rams horn and brittle leaves, look in much better condition today, hope this helps if any, I'm used to soil and soilless mixtures, I'm a newbie at DWC or any indoor growing! Thank god for CFLs!

Awesome, sweet I was about to make a post anyways to get some tips for my plants in aeroponics. I built a little 4 site aeroponic setup and am using botanicares KIND line. I started the seeds in root riot cubes and I think I left them too long without putting them in the system, BC once I finished building it and put them in there they basically went on pause for a few days, and I'm afraid I might lose my cotton candy, which I was REALLY looking forward to.

always have a bottle of peroxide handy when you're doing hydro, clean your tank out regularly with a strongish solution, if you get brown or slime on your roots clean them off gently with a mild solution. It is bleach which cleans and also being H2O2 as it combines with water it releases oxygen into the water oxygenating it.

It took about 4 day's once I put my plugs into cubes and netpots to start seeing a difference so just give a couple more days and once they start they go fast.

also just drop a little splash in your rez now and then, as long as you don't go overboard keeps things clean and oxygenated, dissolves away very quickly

Yup peroxide the answer to everything if used in moderation. To the noob's be fucking careful with peroxide as it is caustic and if you don't know what you're doing with it then don't use it or you going to end up with dead plants.

Sweeeet, yeah I actually have four bottles of peroxide BC I learned my last grow (first run) how handy it is. Especially where I use an air conditioner and my nighttime temps get pretty low, my smart pots get a little white powdery mildew on the outside of the pots every now and then, but a half and half water/peroxide solution rubbed on the outside of the pots always clears it up. Plus I usually have 2-3 buckets of water sitting, and if I ever have a bucket that sits for a day or so with no air stone I'll add a little splash before I pour the water in the soil.

4 plants completely fill up my 4x4 space with nothing but 1 topping.
How you guys can get 16 is amazing to me.
I have 3 right now and those 3 are literally trying to grow on top of each other in a 4x4 space.
