What would happen???(READ THIS)

What would happen if you did a normal light cycle for your vegetative state but when it was time for flowering instead of doing 12/12 you did 24/24, meaning if you gave your plant light for 24 hours and then put it in the dark for 24 hours and repeated this cycle. Would this be bad for the plant? Or just be the same as the 12/12 cycle... post away.

Hmm iv never thought about that ! I dont see how it could be a bad thing, but i dont know if it would speed up the process maybe? i mean you can veg your plants 24/7 so surely you should be able to veg/flower 24/24. Dude give it a try for a week or 2.. see what happens!!

That would put a shitload of stress on the plant. Try staying awake for 48 hours and then sleeping for 16. How do you like it?

From my understanding it's having <12 hours of light that will throw a plant into flower. There is positive research on having shorter cycles like 6/14, but you need a timer that supports that, and they're hard to come by.

That time would as said stress the hell out of the plants and stress is badddd.I have run shorter cycles like 10/12 before and didnt see any impact but 12/12 ios a good rule to follow

Dude ive thought about this alot lol and talked about it but i dont think its a good idea or people would probably do it.

you could probably go 14/14 or 15/15 without tripping the plant out

I'd say it would stay in veg, but like the others said, it would be really stressed (although maybe not).

Either way I'm almost certain it wouldn't flower that way.

watched a video on TH Seeds utube and he mentioned while flowering 12/12 the last 2 weeks go to 14 hrs light for really big buds.

Otherwise appears you would stress the plants and stunt them. not good....

i have heard of people in the third and fourth week going to a 14\10 hour schedule and then switching back to 12\12 and having good results never tried it myself but heard good things. as i understand you really dont wont any more darkness than what it takes to trigger the plant. but feel free to experiment. good luck

Apparently, though I've never tried it, you can flower on a 12-6 schedule, and it will flower quicker, creating a 18 hour day.

I would think you'd need a special timer or something. Has anyone ever tried this?

Listen, what you definitely don't want to do is not leave it in the dark period for a long enough period of time.......the darkness is what triggers the flowering stage......12 on/ 12 off.........when the lights are off, you must not let any light at all hit that plant until you are a 100% sure how many hours it takes to actually make your plant start flowering, it may be less the 12 hours off, thats why the base is 12 off because most plants period will start flowering within 12 hours of darkness.

If you are going to conduct the experiment you would have to leave the plant in the dark for twenty four hours first, then leave it in the light for 24 hours.....whatever time you start flowering is the time you should keep, when you start rearranging the time frames, is when the plants start getting pissed......so pick a good time.......my babies actually have growth spurts of two to three inches if i leave them in the dark for 24 hours because i spend the night or two away from my grow area.......another thing is that it may actually take you three weeks at the most to even see signs of flowering, so you'll have to be dedicated to the schedule of time you start flowering, and also, how long it's going to take before you'll see signs......afterwards, i have left mines in the light for 24 hours once they started flowering, for weeks and they still keep flowering......it can take just as long to stop a flowering plant as it can to start one.........give it a go, if you take good care of it, she should be just fine.........

i dont know i have had crops that got interupted during the dark period and got stunted, it is not going to go back to veg right away but i will stunt it this i know from experience. even from a couple hours, like 4hrs once, and they all were very slow for the following couple days.

you may or may not recieve some type of slowed developement, the chancing are good that you can, so i agree somewhat, but my experiance was different, regardless, it's never a good idea to disturb the plants once they are in the dark cycle, if you have too, you should use a green light......yeah, if you disturb them during the dark cycle you've automatically stopped the flowering process, the reverts back to trying veggie, but the process is slow, not always stunted..........but i agree with you pretty much......
