What to store pH meter in?

Hi everyone, I have this problem of sorts.

I just got my digital pH meter from China (finally) but as I skimmed the manual for the genral how to, I noticed there wasn't anything about how to store he pH meter. It's a very simple pH meter I could'nt get a more expensive one although that's on my "need to buy ASAP list". The manual simply states that I should rinse the electrode after use using distilled water and just put the cap back on.

After doing some research on the web a lot of people warn that the probe should not dry out as this can cause damage?

I cannot buy a storage solution, so I was wondering if anyone could give me a few tips on how to store safely. Apparently distilled water must be used for rinsing purposes only, not for the actual storage.
I was thinking of just submerging the tip into the calibrating solution and leaving it there?

Thanks for your help.

Distilled water is always 7.0 ph, same has cal solution...make sure the probe still wet when you put cap bck on..

i rinse with white vinegar and then store in a small beaker of RO water. change out both once a week.

From what I heard RO water used as a storage solution can damage the probe, because it sucks the ions from the electrode. Although that might differ from probe to probe, and if it works for you, then that's great. :D
