Im taking Art Appreciation in college this semister and the professor wants me to create 8 forms of art. This art can be as easy as drawing something (i cant draw a simple stick figure) or as complicated as making a sculture. Its all up to me! The only thing he requires us to do is to make an "abstract artwork" for 2 of our 8 forms of art. Im not much of an artist and would like some suggestions on what to do.

I like the artwork "rocket to the moon" and would like to do something similiar. To those who are not familiar with this artwork it is made from posterboard, elmers glue, and magazine clippings. I dont want to create all pot work art or he might dock me points for creativity (plus its a small private college and i dont want people thinkin im a stoner). So im here for suggestions and details on how to make some art.

I want to think outside the reamls of the pot industry :D ***for the most part maybe some minimal pot art work is acceptable:leaf:

i remember when i took art in high school and some kids would ask for help on what do draw/paint/sculpt ect.. it kinda pissed me off, i have always thought of art as a way to express myself and MY opinions and MY views not anybody elses.. ESPECIALLY if its a college course.. you are paying for the class because you want to be an artist, or it interests you at least some.. so do you're own thing. nobody will laugh at the skill level of your art, just enjoy it.

"I like the artwork "rocket to the moon"" nothing wrong with this. try to do something similar this particular piece inspires you.

good luck. and im sorry if i came off the wrong way, im just giving you my oppinion not trying to be an ass. :peace:

I agree with DontDoDrugs, because your artwork is your way of communicating your own personal perceptions or your visions. If you're thinking abstract, try to think of some topic that you have some opinions about, and represent your opinion in a simple way. Abstract paintings often times don't even have real images or shapes, it's just the artist painting something that can't be identified as a "thing". The best art is usually simple in it's appearance, but the meaning is deeper. I personally love psychedelic art like alex grey and abdul mati klarwein. Some of their stuff is very abstract, but has deep meanings.

I remember one time i was sitting blazed at a red light watching all the cars go by me that had the green light, and I was thinking to myself and imagined that all the people inside the cars were just brains attached to a spinal chord. So at that instant, my vision (if i were expressing it in art) would show people going about daily life, driving cars, etc but instead of people in my image, I would use brains attached to spinal chords. I know it sounds lame, but that was an idea I had years ago just as an example. Sry to ramble, but have fun with your project.

Nice that looks pretty good. The 13 leaves sounds like a good idea if you're not afraid to throw it out there, or you could just tally 13 times to show a count of the progress. It's ironic that the number is 13, like 13 original colonies. lol i'm so stoned...

I'm in the same class, and my teacher is a wack. I made an F on her test last week! I;ve never made anything below a C when I gave a damn! We are in week 6 and have only done 1 project. We had to draw a memory from childhood and then rip into 5 pieces, after that we had to match lines and colors from magaiznes and fill in 3/4 behind the pic with magazines. I made a B, mabye that will bring up the F? A's everywhere else. I hate art, but its required so what can I do? Anyway, I don't know about your teacher but mine does not like rulers, straight lines or anythin normal. Your drawing is good, I like it, but if I did it I would prolyy have another F. I'm subscribing and I'll let you know if I think of something.

I havent drawn in probably 5-10 years before i done the USA pic... I simply went to yahoo pictures to find the exact same pic and then looked at it while i drew with charcoal... if i can do it then i guarantee u can... i drew the USA outline first.. then the top left box... next i drew the lines... then i shaded in

On the yahoo pic it showed some waves from the flag being blown in the wind. When i tried to replucate it then it fuckeed up my image... thats why some lines towards the top is curvy... i wasnt high.. lol.. i was just an amature
