what soil mix is best?

https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/450766-can-anyone-sort-out.html
As you can see from my post above - I need some better soil.
I have added nutes to my current crop and guess what?
No recovery and they look just as bad! (suggestions?)

I think that the shock of starvation has stunted them for good.
Will be trying with another lot, and need some soil additives.
Any suggestions?

Also note that GUANO is good but I wonder about the 3.10.2 ratio I saw.
Was it just that particular brand?
surely a higher N count is what I need to give my puppies a chance.
Please suggest things and add links to UK based sites if possible!

Subcool's supersoil. It takes a little $$, time, and some hard work at first, but once you start using it you will not go back. Just water and some sugars at the end and your well on your way. Start by reading this thread. https://www.rollitup.org/subcools-old-school-organics/338384-2010-revised-super-soil-recipe.html

He also has multiple threads (many different sites), even his own organic forum on RIU https://www.rollitup.org/subcools-old-school-organics/ ) and videos on youtube breaking down not only his SS recipe, but he cover's just about everything you could possibly want to know. And the best part is you can shoot him intelligent question's and he will personally answer them on his sub-forum for you. Hope this helps.

Another vote for Fox Farm Ocean Forest. Absolute abundance of essential nutrients so you don't have to feed for at least the first month.

North County Bounty 420 Blend. Soilless and don't feed for 4 weeks. After that you can feed if you know what you're doing. Should be able to go 2 months without anything with the right size pot and good watering habits.

Miracle Grow is a NO GO.Much better soils are available just about everywhere. Roots Organic is better than Fox Farm. thats the hook, line, and sinker... So close the thread we can all go shopping now

There is no best. But there are better and worse. In part it depends on your growing style e.g organic vs chemical fertilzers and what's available locally because soil is expensive to ship.

I use FF Ocean Forest and have had good results with it. FF has a lot of nutrients in it and can even burn plants. For seedlings I mix it 40% with Perlite. Other's like Prom Mix, Happy Frog, even Black Gold. (I used BG one time and it was fine. Just had to start the nutes sooner)

FF OF is spendy and not everyone thinks it's so great. About $25 /10ga bag. You dont have to buy soil with nutrients. You can:

Buy a bottle of vegetative nutes. I use Flora Nova and get good results.

You can add organic amendments to your soil like kelp bat guano etc

You can find Subcools recipe for Super Soil and mix that up. (im going to use that on my next grow)

If you are into growing MJ. I mean into it, not just growing to have cheap weed (which is fine too), it pays to do some research and learn a bit about soils.

MJ plants eat a lot of Nitrogen in their vegetative phase. Almost any soil is going to need extra N from some source.

So probably not the best choice for a first grow.
Yeah this is my first time using it. Working good lol

I used 60% Miracle Gro Organic Choice (the one that says NOT intended for use in pots)
20% Perlite
20% Sphagnum Peat Moss

You can click my link to see how my plants are growing in my mix. But for a new grower i would try really hard to find ffof or roots organic

Go to a nursery and find some Sun-Gro "Metro Mix" soil. It's cheap and made by Sunshine. Sunshine being the consumer brand and Sun-Gro being the commercial line. The only difference between Sun-Gro and Sunshine is price. The Sun-Gro is WAY cheaper. Awesome soil. Tons of chunky perlite in it already. You don't have to add perlitle like you do to Fox Farm. I get Sun-Gro in 2.5 CF bags for 15 bucks. That's versus 25 for a 1.5 CF bag of Ocean Forest + 5 bucks per bag of perlite. I don't think the Sun-Gro is organic though. I did the organic thing and about the only thing I got were smaller yeilds.

Hell, go to any big nursery and ask what they're using. Provided their plants look good. If it works for them it'll work for you. If they make their own mix, they'd probably sell you a few totes full of it for cheap.

You don't need to get all sad and angry. If you want to use Miracle Gro, then fine by me. What the hell do I care. I just thought this thread was about what soil mix is the best, and miracle gro is definately not the best. I stand by what I say. "There are much better soil mixes out there than miracle gro" Almost everybody I think would agree with that.

Lesson #1
: is never take advise from people who mention Miracle Gro
