Depends on many things:
  • How big are your buckets?
  • How big is your light or lights?
  • How much yield do you hope to get?
  • How much money are you wanting to invest? Not only in a tent, but in other gear if you want to grow bigger?
I am looking at setting up a 6 bucket RDWC UC in a 4x8x8 Gorilla tent under 2 600w HIDs in joined sunsystems blockbuster hoods. I could do 8 buckets if I want but I'm restricted by the number of MMJ plants.

Mine will be similar to this setup, only I will also have a 1/4hp chiller and reservoir outside the tent, along with a dehumidifier inside the tent:

My equipment list so far:
4x8x8 Gorilla tent
2x600w 240v Apollo ballasts
2xsunsystem blockbuster 6" air cooled hoods
Electric hoist and pullies for motorized hood lifter - http://www.harborfreight.com/440-lb-electric-hoist-with-remote-control-60385-9253.html
(I'll be posting my hoist diy design after it's built)
hortilux MH and HPS lights
Hurricane 435cfm inline fan
Vantech fan controller
6"x24" scrubber
6" muffler
3 oscillating fans
portable AC for the room the tent sits in to assist in cooling (house has central AC)
50-pint dehumidifier

diy is always best
I agree. I've built quite a few closet grows in the past, but my disabilities from being a disabled vet has really caught up to me in the past couple years and I have very little left in me. It sucks because I really did enjoy building everything.

I did want to design my own lift though because I've always hated yo-yo's and other hangers. With two lights I saw it as being a real pain in the ass.

So basically I'm going to use a hoist, a length of angle iron to hang the hoods from by their hooks, and then use a series of pulleys to perform a smooth even vertical light mover. Pretty inexpensive as well. I looked around but I didn't really come across any motorized light hangers so once I'm done I'll post my design and results for everyone.

Lots of my equipment advice came from jijiandfarmgang and dbkick so I'd like to give a shout out to them and say thanks for all the advice. I hope to get started soon. Just waiting for the rest of my disability to kick in.

And by all means, macmc the more you can DIY the more $$$ you will save. It gets expensive when you have to buy everything.
