What Should I Be Feeding my Seedling?

They are two weeks old, the original seeding leaves are completely yellow. They are even slightly brown on one plant.

I have read on here to give them Grow Big, and the bottle says so too so I gave them 1/2tsp per gallon like the bottle says. That was two days ago and the leaves haven't changed. Probably just because I haven't waited long enough though. Is 36 hours long enough that it should have started working by now if it was the right amount?

But then I look at the FF Feeding Chart and it says the seedlings get FF Big Bloom at 2tbsp per gallon. So should I be giving them the Big Bloom? And it says that they should be getting much higher dosages of FF Grow Big, like 2tsp per gallon instead of the 1/2tsp per gallon I gave them.

So what should I be feeding my seedlings? They are 2 weeks old, and they obviously need something because those bottom leaves are just getting worse. What should I do?

Thank you.

Oh and they are in FF Light Warrior, so no nutes in there. The only nutes they have had ever is a light watering with 1/2tsp FF Grow Big two days ago.

The bottom leaves have been getting yellower and yellower for days. They are now completely yellow, and they are even turning brown on one plant. I still shouldn't feed them?

EDIT: i know the seedling leaves are supposed to naturally die and fall off, but for some reason i thought that was supposed to happen much later in life than two weeks. Is that what you are saying is happening and its not a nutrient deficiency?

Cotyledons usually yellow and die off. As long as the new growth is green, you shouldn't worry.

How many sets of leaves are there all together?

There is a set of 1 finger true leaves and a set of three finger leaves, the next set is just starting to form. So there are 2 sets of true leaves.

Thanks man

Don't burn them when there this young, just be patient.
Are they in a big enough pot of soil?

They are in a solo cup. It has holes punched in the bottom.

Could this be because the cup is too small?

So is whats going on just the cotyledon naturally dying? Or is it a nutrient deficiency?

When does the fertilizer start working so I will know if I burned them?

i use Clonex seed and clone supplement.......I dont really give them anything, for at least 2 1/2 weeks.Solo cups should be alright for now, 16 oz. ? If that soil has nutes in it, i would just focus on ph'd water, only when they need it.
Sounds like they are burning up with N, step-off and just plain ole water for another week and 1/2....
once again, just an opinion..keep your head up

There is no way they are getting burned, this happened before I fed them. It is happening on the other plants that haven't ever been fed. The soil has no nutes.

So nutrient burn is not even a possibility. Is it just the cotyledons naturally dying? When does that normally happen?

hell man, i dont know then. They do die off, could just be the strain....I wouldnt be to alarmed as long as the new growth looks ok.I just posted some pics of some of my baby rhinos' and they are 24 days old today and everything is still pretty green.

All I would lean towards is maybe a gentle seedling supplement then and see how it goes....

Are you sure you haven't overwatered....do you allow your soil to dryout before thoroughly watering...? I also use solocups for my seedlings and they get NO nutes of any type for 3 weeks...and THEN only if they appear healthy......I then start mine on 1/4 strength veg nutes (Bio-Bizz Fishmix or Bio-Grow)....Never used or know anyone personally who uses FF but it sounds like they want you to burn your shit up.....

Light Warrior has no nutes though. Could this be caused by overwatering? I let it dry out thorougly between waterings but that's at least a possibility since I was watering them a little too much before. Could overwatering cause the cotyledons to die while the rest of the plant remains healthy?

Mrs. Robinson, do your 24 day old plants still have their cotyledons? Does anyone know when they normally fall off?

Could it be a pH issue? I was watering right out of the tap, which was like ~7.5. I have been setting the pH of the water to 6.5 ror 7 since then. I don't have a proper pH tester, so I'm just using the pH test drops that comes with the pH up and pH down from GH. Or could it be because i'm using tap water?

I don't care as much about these seedlings because they are bagseed, but I would really like to save them if I can. But i just started my OG kush seedlings using pH'd tap water and they look fine (broke ground 2 days ago). Should i switch to bottled or distilled water for them?

i use FF products and you can use big bloom early on. i wait 1 week before using it and i only use 1/2 strength once a week. 2 tbsp per gallon is meant for 2x per week but i agree that plants this young need only minimal amounts of nutrients so thats why i only use once a week.

But you use 2tbsp per gallon once a week? If it works for you then I guess i'll give it a try on some of the seedlings and compare the difference between the ones that got it and the ones that didn't. Thanks, man.

I'm starting to think this is a problem from using tap water I guess because it has shit in it, or maybe from the 7.5 pH of the tap water?

this seedling is about 22 days from planting and ive used big bloom twice. she seems to be liking it ok. you may want to be cautious with your og's i hear their real touchy.

Looking good, man. Have the cotyledons died off that plant yet? I'm trying to figure out if this is natural or if its a problem.

If these seedlings I got now die its not the end of the world. I would like to save them if I can. But most importantly I want to identify the problem so that it doesn't happen to my OG Kush's and Jack the Ripper. I spent a lot of money on the seeds. And I can't afford any more setbacks because I'm starting chemo soon and want to have my own bud ASAP, ya know?

Thanks bro.

EDIT: Do you possibly have a pic of those when they are 2 weeks old or so? I would like to compare to see if mine are stunted.

the cotyledons have not died yet but are yellowing a bit. i totally understand your situation dude and i wish you the best of luck with your battle. the first two pics are 8 days from planting and the last one is about 17 days.

when i first read your post i thought to myself maybe high chlorine levels or something in the water but im not sure. i had a leaf problem before using tapwater but it took a while to build up before it showed symptoms. anyhow, i use the big bloom just 1x a week instead of twice especially when im growing a strain i never grew before just to be safe until i can figure out the plant. it has really low levels of nutrients and it helps aid the plant while growing a root structure. also you should let your tapwater sit with the lid off for at least 24 hrs. before adding big bloom to the water so you dont harm the microbes in the solution. chlorine will kill microbes.
