Getting good quality genetics is key to getting a quick buck - it has to be nice for all mainly the person who's selected that plant - if you breed there nothing better than seeing a bud you bred in someone's hands who you don't know ,happened to me in a club.Kid had bought a oz of someone I know .Alot of good breeders out there,but I'm stuck at minute with greenhouse USA breeding projects (love em)

No shit… capitalism sure is a harsh mistress. Honestly they are so many good strains you just gotta grow them right. Select a strain you know/like from a reputed breeder and go with that. Stay away from any bank that has a “hottest strains” list; they are usually marked up with no good reason or they want to get rid of old stock they have. Order from banks that are as local as you can get; the closer they are to your location the fresher the beans should be.

The best stuff Ive seen since the early 70s was a late 80s-early 90s NL5 x Haze x Nevils Hashplant x Skunk 1, back in the 90s, and still to this day is the best Ive seen since the early 70s, and is as good as anything Ive ever smoked. I grew it from 1991-1997 until a partner ratted me out to the Feds, and I lost it, and did a 12 years stint with the feds. It was so strong, many many people didnt like it. I was growing and selling it, and ctually lost some customers, because even 1 hit was to much. It was a big time paranoid high for many, and would last for hours. Many of my friends wanted something more calming to smoke after work, and this stuff would send them to the moon. It had it all. Big time head high, and a big time physical high. A freinds ex girlfriend is still mad at me because she thought I put PCP in it. It made her sick for 4-5 hours. Throwing up, dry heaving, and big time paranoia. All she could do was lay in front of the toilet, and gag.
It was also heavy duty choke material. There was no holding a good size hit it. It would make you cough your brains out, and also would often make you lose your vision for 4-5 seconds when you hit it. So it was very unsafe to try and drive, and smoke it. Heavy duty Expando Weed.
The Puck BC3 comes from Nevils Hashplant. It was found in 1988, and is clone only. Thats why I mention it, and the Skunk x PuckBC2 unconditionally. The Skunk x Puck BC2 is basically the same genetics used for the Male in my NL5 x Haze x Hashplant x Sk1 strain. I was given this strain. I didnt make it.
Puck is also known as Skelly Hashplant. A guy named Skelly found the pheno, and kept his weed in what resembled a Hockey Puck. Thus the 2 names. Skelly/Puck. The Puck, and its Mother.... Pacific Northwest Hashplant..... are the 2 most sought after of all the hashplant cuts.
Nevils Hashplant is a cross of Pacific Northwest Hashplant x NL1. Nevil got a Male of the cross, and then backcrossed it into the Mother PNWHP.
Bob Hemphill further inbred the Puck to NL1 and concentrated the Puck Genetics into the cross, so that a high percentage will be like the mother Puck. It took him 3-4 years to develop this cross, and test it, as it did all of his other crosses using the Puck. You wont find a better PURE INDICA. Is is bred to IBL, and consider the Sk1 is a stabilized Hybrid. The Skunk x Puck is a true F1 Hybrid, which means great vigor, and disease resistance.
But its a tough choice. Luckily, Ive got every one of the above mentioned strains, and then some. I havent grown all of them, but have seen reports, and am familiar with all of the genetics. For me, Im mainly interested in genetics from the 80s-90s, except the Sour Diesel, and a few others.
Im also big on the pre 2000 AK47. Closest I know to get this in seed form is from Hemp Depot in Canada from Joey Weed. AK47 is a beast of a strain too. But not the stuff from now. Even the early-mid 2000s version was really good, but the Pre2000 was on another level.

I agree something changed sometime in the mid 90s. The Seedbank and SSSC Afghan and Skunk number ones changed. I ordered every year until they quit shipping to the US . I think Neville lost one of his studs. I think that he said that it lost its vigor. My memory is hazy tho that was a long time ago. The indoor guy's in my area were all growing NL×Haze cross that made my Skunk 1 look like mids.

Humboldt Seed Company is a great place to look. Super terpy strains, lots of "early flowering" stuff compared to most breeders. I've grown a handful of their gear and it's always been super easy to grow, little to no issues with the plants, and the breeder descriptions are VERY accurate. Chitown Seeds is probably the cheapest place to grab their gear.

Top Dawg posts a lot of sad plants on their IG page. I'm not saying that their strains aren't fire, but they don't represent them very well.
