I'm using Miracle grow basic potting soil for a single plant grow.
The soil has a base N-P-K ratio of .10 - .02 - .05.
I also got some vigaro all purpose fertalizer with a N-P-K of 24 - 8 - 16, and it's got copper, iron, manganese, and boron, which is lacking in the MG soil.
Also there is no magnesium, so I've got some epsom salt that I can add for that.
It's a clone that was planted on the 3rd of November in the MG potting soil, but I didn't start adding epsom salt to the water until 2 weeks went by and I noticed a few leaves were dying, some red stem was showing up, and some of the leaves were starting to die. That's when I realized there was no magnesium or other trace nutrients that were necessary in the soil and so I started with just magnesium in the water and that helped, but there still seems to be a little stunt in the growth, and so that's where I came up with the idea to start giving it vigaro to make up for what the plant is missing and give it a big nitrogen boost (of course fist mixing the vigaro with water at half strength for the first 2 weeks to see how she responds to it).
I was thinking of giving it my vigaro epsom salt water mix every other feeding and then just give her my epsom salt water mixture without vigaro every other watering (because there is nitrogen, but no magnesium in the MG soil, and that could easily cause nutrient lock).
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
