What lights to use?

Hello,

I plan on growing 2 small stealth growths pretty soon and I want to get the cfl lights now but I am unsure on what lights to get..

it was suggested to get four 26watt cfls, but will this be enough? or is it too much? Or would it be just right?

in the shop down the road I can get 20ish watt bulbs, would four 20-24watt bulbs be enough?

you want to get the highest wattage you can find for CFL's...if growing "stealthy" in a small cabinet you might be able to get away with only 4, but don't expect amasing results...during veg you'll want 3 6500K bulbs(color value), and 1 2700K bulb, during flowering you'll want 3 2700K bulbs and a 6500K...basically buy as many CFL's as you can get your hands on and cascade them around your plants...the better CFL grows i've seen use at least 4 bulbs per plant, but it can be done with 2 per plant...you just don't get the yield out of it :)

oh definately...and those are 125 real watts...just be weary they do give off some heat :)

Mhmm, i think they might too much. I am only growing too really small plants, I want to save as much money on electricity as I can.. would it be wise to look for some lights a little less powerful?

well...those are high powered CFL grow lights...they will keep your plants nice and short and compact if you use them properly and keep a short veg period...you can also use training techniques like topping and LST to keep the height down and keep the yield up. The one thing to note about those 125watt lights is for the amount of lumens out of them vs the amount of wattage they use, they are less efficient than the 23-26watters, BUT the 125watt lights have better penetration power so light isn't just stuck just hitting the outside of the plant...it can reach inside.

So it kinda depends on the grow space you are going to be working with...if you are going to be working with a small like 1'x1' footprint and only a couple feet high then you'll have issues with heat with those larger CFL's...got any more details as to what you are planning on doing space wise?

well its about 60cm high, thats the only measurment i know
thats only 2' high...not much head room there...so now you've got to be creative and need to plan on strapping those plants down to keep them from growing into the lights...so you'll have to switch to 12/12 early...like when the plant is about 3-4" tall, and either use a screen with the SCROG technique to keep the plant matter down, or LST it all over the place with twist ties or string to keep it all short...

im veging on 1 200w envirolite blue 6400k, and that was enough for 3 plants and they was fine, and im flowering on 2 red 250w and 200w + 450w , but all im saying is 1 200w envirolite is enough, i know because ive done this

You shouldn't see a major difference in your power bill if you have 2,4, or 6 CFLs. They are pennies on the dollar when it comes to they're power consumption.
