What LEDs for an indoor grow in a big metal incinerator can?

I grow a in big metal can with cfls and thought the metal side walls would make good heat sinks for mounting some LEDs for some more light, but I know very little about what's out there. Any links or things to google for would be appreciated

Bummer. First bit of research says 18 inches away. I don't have that distance. Why not use less power and put them closer?
leds have a very narrow beam angle. you need to place them 12 to 18 inches away to get good coverage and avoid burning your plants

It depends on the output. Cob running at 30 watts can be 4" away without burning plants. Strip LED and single diodes can be even closer.

Thanks for the comments. Can I get any links for further research? I have a background in electronic engineering so I don't expect any trouble understanding what I read, my main stumbling point at the moment is literally not knowing what is available out there. I did look at single LEDs and strips about a year ago but decided to go for CFL's. I am expecting to be able to get single LEDs (individual or or on a strip) that I can mount with a good thermal contact to the metal walls. Everything is already properly earthed as I have CFL's in there running at mains.
Thanks
