well you can not have a 12/12 light cycle during veg. stage because when you turn your lights to 12/12 that is what triggers the flowering stage

by the way 18/6 is the way almost everyone goes, unless they are doing 24/0 which alot people will tell you is dumb

Yea Has Anyone Ever Ran A Test With 18/6 And 24/0 Lighting To See If 24/0 Lighting Actually Does Have A Purpose And Isn't Just Wasting Money And Electricity?

What Do You Use Smkpt?

I Think I Might Run A Test On That Sometime!!

What dont you understand? Its simple if you start with 12/12 your plants will never actually grow right they will be put into immediate flowering mode. at least run a couple weeks with 18/6.

You're a little confused here is all buddy.

18/6 is the light requirement to grow in the vegetative state.

12/12 is the light requirement to grow in the flowering stage.

While it is possible to start growing a plant under 12/12 from the getgo, it will still veg for a short period of time, out of pure neccessity, than go into flower, yeild and size of course will be stunted.

A good rule of thumb for an indoor grower, looking to maximize, time vs space vs light is to grow for about 1 month, 12" in height, and atleast 5-6 nodes, in vegatative growth, than switch to 12/12 to start the flowering cycle. FLowering should take from 9 to 12 weeks depending on strain and other factors.
I hope this helps ya!
Peace

What is the difference between 18-6 and 12-12 duing veg. in quality or in other things.

I'm currently growing under 24/0 my first plant veged like this has just recently gone into my flowering room. The plant grew at the same rate as ones i previously grew under 18/6 and the sex was determined today as female. both 18/6 and 24/0 seem to work the same to me but you sould probably go with 18/6 to save power.

BTW does anybody know if changing the light cycle from 24/0 to 18/6 will trigger preflowers or stunt my plants?

i ves 24 hours because i am only using 40 watts to keep my mothers in veg and from there they get cloned and go directly to 12/12 from aeroponics. for 40 watts my hydro barely budges. but the good news is i don't have to give up any rooms for dark period and i can hang with my moms 24/7 if i like. It's more fun being able to smoke weed and hang with my mother plants then to let them sleep.
