what is the best medium to use for hempy bucket grow????

what is the best medium to use for hempy buckets?
in terms of yield and quality and speed of growth

1 coco hempy 100%

2 perlite/vermiculite 70/30 mix

3 coco/perlite 70/30 or 50/50 mix

4 coco/clay pebble 70/30 mix

5 perlite 100%

there are 5 different types of combinations here

please put in your comments and feed backs

i have read some info on these mediums and grow style but i am looking more into results and verdict for best combination to use.

For the list ... Even though it's not quite on your list, it's stipple kinda is.
100% perlite.

I recommend 100% perlite for a newbie. I had great success with it. i'm trying 100% coco now and it doesn't drain anywhere near good enough. Way soggier than I thoguht it'd be.

yup. Thats why I use it in my rain forest tanks .... But not the best for what we want with other plants. I wouldnt use it.

I have 6 plants in 16oz beer cups right now, 100% coco, getting ready to transplant them into 3gal smart pots. I'm debating what ratio perlite/coco to mix? or if I should mix anything else in? I've ready people say they use 100% coco with god results but they can't be getting the explosive growth that more air provides like 100% perlite. 100% coco dries quicker than a soil mix but not much. I'm thinking about cutting the 3 galls 80/20 coco/perlite, or maybe 50/50 or somewhere in between?

how often would i need to water 100% perlite hempy as it won't hardly hold much water, would it need feeding everyday?

kt420 your rite you can't get explosive growth like 100% perlite but coco is more forgiving in terms of lasting longer without water, coco perlite at 70/30 maybe a good mix but don't take me up on that though i may be wrong.

My favorite conventional Hempy medium is Hydroton (clay balls).It is reuseable with a mild bleach/water bath.
You have to use Rockwool cubes to start seeds in it,and non Rockwool used clones have to have the roots long enough to touch res.
Perlite is probably best for new growers and a chunky grade is less hassle than the fine pellet Perlite.Vermiculite is not needed.
In my humble opinion Coco Coir is just adding a little complication for a simple setup ,but I never used it.

Keep medium moist around plant base not oversaturated.when You see explosive growth you know roots hit res.
Perlite has lots of airpockets that hold water.

yeah you water a 100% perlite hempy every day. That's the beauty of it though, impossible to overwater and that's what most new growers usually do, and because it's so airy and you're waterng so much, you get the most hydro-like (explosive) growth.

You should be checking on your plants once a day anyway and if you're just doing a small cab grow it's easy to mix up a gal or 2 and feed while yo do that.

Does anyone have any experience with using Turface? I heard 50/50 Turfacec/Perlite is a good combination.

I use cocoa and perlite for the reserve, check out the world of hempy thread, lots of good people and advice there

I only use 3 gallon pots. In my experience
No
One does not have to water everyday in perlite.
The trick is to START ones bucket with DAMP perilite
I water ( fill the Rez) every 3-4 days
No ph worries
The hempy will not DRY....
It will suck up the excess water in the Rez and then absorb the Ferts in the peralite.
I have gone 5 days without water with no ill effects, but I grow led.
Even when I was growing with a 250 hps every 3-4 days worked.
Lots of fresh o2 in the lower root zone for as the Rez loweres it sucks in o2 .
Not a big fan of watering hempy every day
( and neither was hempy)
Just not my grow style and get stunning results so why the extra hassle???

You guys rock. I'm a newbie... and all this is great info. I've got a 12x18 flower room newly bestowed upon me. Any ideas on how to make most of this space via the hempy?
