Hi there joker/penor

@ penor

Seedlings definitely need water more than every eight days!
Forgot to mention mate, i gave it a little water the other day,[on day 8} so it has had some more water, but like i say, was just a little

I definitely didn't try to flower this plant, but I'm sure I could have cloned it if I really wanted to grow that particular strain!
I dont have the option to clone mate, only have one room available to veg then flower.

Do you think it is a bad move to continue growing this u mean mate ? As in, will be pointless putting it into flower ?

@joker , hey mate.

No worries m8 it looks good and 8 days is fine if the soil is still moist and you still feel weight when lifting the growing container.
Glad you think its looking ok mate.

Yeah the soil an ich or 2 below is still dark /cool/and moist. But i dont realy trust my own judgement lol bit para again. Id like to get this soil tester in there, but not sure about poking it in and fking up any roots that are already fkd up.

Also I realy should have bought one or 2 extra pots soil i cant feel the wieght diff between and empty one and a waterd one. l try get to the shop later for this.

Cheers. :]

GREAT THREAD!
Unc B's germing method sounds great ..... although I've been germing with a paper towel in a zip lock, I've had failures after putting into soil. I did start putting the seed into soil as soon as they cracked so I didn't run the risk of damaging the tiny root.....
Kudos to all who've replied as one can glean useful info while listening to lively debate.
Good luck on your grow man....

K guys. I stopped being such girl and tested the pots.

For moisture the LS read 6 on a scale of 1 to 10 {1 being red & 10 being blue. 3 to 7 being green}

HS was at 5.

PH of the soil in both read just under 8. Which is the highest alkaline it goes to & is marked green. Then from 7 down to 3.5 is marked red.

Hope that makes sense lol.

So my soil ph is a little high ?

I belive the meter is farily accuarte. It made by draper who are a large known company.

Thanks for any advice.

The above suggests you don't have basic plant culture down pat. Recommend you read a couple of books on regular indoor plant culture - potting and watering techniques, etc.

When you water, you don't give the plant just a little, you thoroughly drench the medium to insure there are no dry channels or dry holes. What you've done now is created a hygroscopic situation, a soil particle repelling issue, whereby the ion particles of the water and soil are the same, which means the water runs right thru in places, and your plant is being starved of moisture. Peat based mixes are notorious for being really tough to return to a moisture retentive state once allowed to dry out. Also, it compromises plant vigor and health when a plant is not given continuous moisture. Letting the soil dry out between watering is a bad practice.

Also I realy should have bought one or 2 extra pots soil i cant feel the wieght diff between and empty one and a waterd one. l try get to the shop later for this.

Cheers. :]
Leave it alone, don't transplant until it has recovered (is established) and pot bound.

Thanks for the reply UB.

I did do a fair bit of reading. But i suppose alot of that was to do with veg/flower period. What i can expect.

And havnt perfected the basics mate.

Like i say , i just felt i was reading & reading and not taking alot of it in, felt it was time to get my hands dirty. I learn alot faster by actually doin somthin rather than reading about it.

But your def right mate, i need to get back to the basics. Which i will do.

I kinda get the jist of what your saying about watering in that manner.

Tbh i didnt fancy transplanting, if i cant water properly, what chance have i got on cxarrying out a delicate operation.

But as far as watering goes mate.

Goin by the moisutre readings iv got and becuase i waterd wrong.
What do you think i should do now bud, leave to completely dry out ?

Or give it a full new flush?{which wouldnt be today as its nearing lights off}

But water 'properly', with a full thorough flush. till theres like 20% run off, is that about right?

Apriecate your advice UB. Apologies for my newbness.

Is this kind of growth normal in the 1st week. Growing upwards like that i mean?

There has been hardly any growth in the past 2 days or so.

I have a hawaiian snow growing along side it thats doin fine. The diff between them is night & day.

I potted them into 4inch pots using bio bizz all mix. Iv managed to keep roughly optimal temps since day one. but on about avg around 80/81.
And humidity has been always very low or zero.

Im in a dr60 with a 250w mh over them, between 1ft 1/2 and a foot away. mostly been sitting at just over a foot away though.

Iv only watered the soil once & that was when i planted the germed seed. The soil just feeels cool, not wet or damp. Im a bit hesitant to water. i see everywhere not to overwater. number one killer. But dont want to underwater either.

Hope yous can help. Sorry if ive left out any vital info.

Thanks

befor a plant wellgro upward it has to establish a root system. and in 2 days is not time enough. in about 2 weeks you will see some dramtie growth. good luck oh and they look just fine

How were they germinated?

Overwatering is not the issue, exclusion of air is. This is not your case, but if a plant has a healthy root system and plenty of foliage, it is almost impossible to overwater it unless the mix is ultra tight.

UB
Even the most fluffy well drained soil will become packed over time with poor watering techniques. Good watering habits are a must for the new grower. Once you get a few grows under your belt watering will become second nature. But for now pay close attention to the plant and medium. They will have tons to teach you. As far as humidity goes, you need to get it up. Try putting a humidifier in the room the tent is in, not the tent itself. Regulate your temps and moisture in the 'lungroom' and it will make controlling the enviroment in the tent so much easier.

Thanks guys. Some sound advice.

A bit of reassuarance always helps :]

Iv orderd a humidifier, won £45 on a football bet so, iv got a little one on the way. Hopefully itl help a bit.

Atm im just worreid about what UB said. That because i watered just a little around the stem & not all the soil i may have created some dry spots throughout the soil. {hygroscopic situation}

Should i now wait til the soil is all bone dry and water properly or water tonight at lights on ?

Hey again,

I definitely wouldn't toss the plant at all, didn't mean to come across like I was saying that.

Next time you are at the grocery store pick up a little ivy house plant to practice good watering techniques, far less stressful than your cherished seeds!

hi joker mate.

Good to see you. thx buddy.

The little ones comin along, slowly but surely mate. Still a bit deformed and growing all bunched together. But a nice little bit of growth over the past few days. think i timed the watering just nicely. Not spreading its little wings the way it should be though.
However the HS is looking great :D

Hey man things are looking good. Little leaf deformity but she's still looking beautiful :D Good job bud. Not water time yet but soon. When the soil comes away from the wall you know it's close if not water time. I personally think she does look like she's going to be a winner. Best of luck to ya man.
